DESCRIPTION:Does who you are relate to how you feel? This is an important question to ask\, not only about humans\, but also nonhuman animals. In this talk I’ll review my doctoral studies on the relationship of personality on the health\, welfare\, and happiness of three species of nonhuman primates: rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta)\, brown capuchins (Sapajus apella)\, and chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes). I’ll briefly introduce animal welfare science and show how validated surveys of animal welfare are a valid and reliable tool for animal care professionals and show the ways that we found them to be related to animal personality and subjective well-being in nonhuman primates.
