Maura O'Connell

A gorgeous voice of two countries

Most people who've heard the voice of Maura O'Connell are already hooked. Raised in Ireland's County Clare, Maura became the lead singer for De Danann, a band that embodied Irish tradition. Always interested in American music, she moved to Nashville in the late 1980s. She's worked with progressive bluegrassers and maverick songwriters, and she's put together a catalog of gems. People talk about the Celtic roots of country music, but the two traditions have never blended as well as they do with Maura O'Connell. She's traveled between the U.S. and Ireland, both physically and musically, and she's put together a music that's uniquely her own and yet seems like it's always been here, powered by her graceful, gorgeous voice
