SUMMARY:Film Screening:U-M History Film Series: The Campaign
DESCRIPTION:When incumbent Congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major gaffe\, two wealthy CEOs decide to try to gain influence in their district by putting up a rival candidate. Their unlikely choice is a naive tourism director named Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis). Aided by his family's political connections and a cutthroat campaign manager\, Marty soon becomes locked in a dead heat with Cam. As Election Day approaches\, each man slings mud galore in a last-ditch effort to bury the other.\n\nJoin the U-M History Department for a free screening of The Campaign (2012) on Tuesday\, October 22\, at 5:30 pm in Angell Hall Auditorium B. Enjoy this lighthearted take on American politics just two weeks out from the presidential election. After the film\, professors David Tamayo and Eric Toups will lead a brief discussion on how historians use their skills to follow and interpret a US election cycle.
