SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:HET Seminar | Black Hole Information\, Replica Wormholes\, and Macroscopic Superposition States
DESCRIPTION:We discuss recent applications of Euclidean path integrals\nto the black hole information problem. In calculations with replica\nwormholes as the next-to-leading order correction to the\nGibbons-Hawking saddlepoint\, the radiation density matrix approaches a\npure state at late times\, following the Page curve. We compare unitary\nevaporation of black holes (in real time)\, mediated by calculable\nquantum hair effects\, with the replica wormhole results. Both replica\nwormhole and quantum hair approaches imply that radiation states are\nmacroscopic superpositions of spacetime backgrounds\, invalidating\nfirewall and monogamy of entanglement constructions.
