Donia Jarrar is a Palestinian-American composer, pianist, and songwriter whose work spans the genres of classical, electronic, experimental and pop music with undertones of Arabic influence. Commissioned by UMMA in partnership with SMTD in conjunction with the exhibition Doris Duke's Shangri La: Architecture, Landscape, and Islamic Art (on view through May 4, 2014), this new chamber work draws from personal narratives related to notions of paradise and home.
