Speaker: Karl Jackson, Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies

Professor Jackson is C.V. Starr Distinguished Professor of Southeast Asia Studies at Director of the Asian Studies Program at Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies. He is former professor of political science at the University of California, Berkeley; adviser to the president of the World Bank and executive vice president of the International Finance Corporation, former senior adviser at Cereberus Capital Partners and managing director at International Foreign Exchange Concepts; was president of the U.S.-Thailand Business Council; served as national security adviser to the vice president of the United States, special assistant to the president, senior director for Asia on the National Security Council and U.S. deputy assistant secretary of Defense for East Asia and the Pacific.

Prof. Jackson holds a Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
