Your favorite artists come together for “Rivering at the Ark” to launch this very special 50th anniversary celebration for the Huron River Watershed Council, featuring; Chris Good, Kate Peterson, Magdalen Fossum, and Billy Kirst and Kyle Rhodes of Wire in the Wood. Special performances by UM Professor Evan Chambers, a soloist at Carnegie Hall and Ann Arbor’s own The Chenille Sisters. WEMU’s news director David Fair will be our emcee for the evening, to keep it all moving along.

Singers Robby Griswald, Sarah Norat Phillips, and Laura Rubin will present some of our favorite river songs, while storytellers and poets John Knott and Keith Taylor will entertain us with verse and photographer Marc Akemann will share his stunning watershed photographs. Join us for this Huron River-inspired, beautifully crafted and uplifting canon of river songs, poems and images.

Rivering will celebrate the cleanest river in Southeast Michigan and raise funds for programs that protect our community’s greatest natural resource, the Huron River. Rivering is a locally produced family-friendly event to celebrate HRWC and the Huron.

"Chris Good creates music infused with intentionality, ingenuity and integrity. The sweet grooves will make you long for that first warm spring day when you can open your windows.”—Sarah Cleaver

“…but my favorite piece among the literary essays is Keith Taylor's beautiful Old Criticism essay on Ernest Hemingway’s prose…”—Larry McMurtry, reviewing A New Literary History of America in The New York Review of Books

“Evan Chambers’ music is one of great emotional and visceral power. It is the musical embodiment of poetry.”—Armando Bayolo

A Chenille Sisters performance is a blending of three uniquely gifted souls into a musical phenomenon that's more poignant, funny and entertaining than any single performer anywhere - and oh, those exquisite harmonies!
