On Sunday, May 3, the International Committee of the Fourth International will hold an international online rally to mark May Day, the historic day of international working class solidarity.

A gathering on campus of the rally supporters, hosted by the IYSSE at UM, will take place to listen to and participate in this important global event. The rally will take place simultaneously all over the world and feature speeches highlighting the urgency for:

*An international opposition to imperialist war

*The unity of the working class in a fight against poverty, inequality, and dictatorship

*The defense of democratic rights, and the fight for genuine social equality

*An end to capitalism, and the fight for socialism

May Day this year will be held amidst conditions of immense crisis. Much of the world is already engulfed in war, in places like Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. Without the intervention of the working class, these conflicts, ever more violent and bloody, will lead inexorably to a world war waged by nuclear-armed powers that would call into question the very future of human civilization.

The danger of war is rooted in the contradictions of world capitalism—the division of the global economy into competing nation-states, and the subordination of the productive forces of mankind to the accumulation of wealth and profit by the corporate and financial elite.
