Nutrition and Child Development
Through the Lens of Iron
This symposium will address the effects of iron deficiency on child development and consider related controversies.
Basic, translational, and community research knowledge regarding the biological and behavioral effects of suboptimal maternal and child nutrition is crucial to inform interventions and policy decisions that will support child development and health. Iron biology is one lens through which the effects of nutritional imbalances may be understood from epigenetic to global community perspectives.
