The Art of Storytelling
Unique Personal Stories
The Ann Arbor Storytellers’ Guild is open to all who love stories, whether as tellers or listeners. Founded in 1998, this dynamic group exists to promote and further the traditional art of storytelling and to encourage and mentor storytellers of all skill levels. Guild meetings are open to the public. They are lively, fun events where attendees hone the craft of storytelling, practice performing for an audience, or just sit back and listen. Storytelling is an art form. This program will focus on personal stories. We will give the audience ways to observe and listen to stories that will assist them in understanding what makes a story successful. There will be a short introductory lecture. Then, five experienced storytellers will demonstrate various styles and techniques by telling some of their own unique personal stories: Beverly Black, Steve Daut, Lyn Davidge, Jill Halpern and Laura Lee Hayes.
