Panelists: Shira Schwartz, Project Director Detroit City Study, PhD Candidate U-M Department of Comparative Literature, and Detroit City Study Stewards: Nick Tobler, Natalie Davis
The panelists will share their recent summer work in the inaugural academic incubator of Detroit City Study. Detroit City Study is a new co-working space for urban students, researchers and community members in Detroit. It works to make learning and academic research more accessible to the public through shared and open workspace, and a new model of education, called colearning. As part of its pilot, the city Study hosted an academic incubator this summer, made up of 12 PhD students, representing over 10 different programs and departments across the university. In addition to incubating the space, their goal was to work in teams on collaborative, interdisciplinary projects that would be accessible to the public.
