A Quarter Century of War: An Interview with author David North
Listening Party hosted by the IYSSE at UM
David North, chairman of the International Editorial Board of the World Socialist Web Site and national chairman of the Socialist Equality Party (US), will give an interview on his latest book, A Quarter Century of War: The US Drive for Global Hegemony, 1990–2016. This interview will be live-streamed at the next meeting of the International Youth and Students for Social Equality (IYSSE) at the University of Michigan.
The population of the entire world confronts the horrific consequences of twenty-five years of ever expanding war, spearheaded by the United States. Beginning with the first Persian Gulf conflict of 1990–91, the American ruling class has bombed or invaded Iraq, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and many other countries. Now these regional wars, are developing into an ever more direct and open conflict between the larger powers, armed with nuclear weapons.
To understand the present, one must understand the past. In this interview, North will discuss the themes and perspective contained in his new book, which is a record of the origins and development of American foreign policy over the past quarter century.
