Big Data: Advancing Science, Changing the World

Please join us for the Michigan Institute for Data Science Annual Symposium, “Big Data: Advancing Science, Changing the World,” November 15 – 16 at the Michigan League and the Rackham Graduate Building. The symposium will feature preeminent data scientists from around the world, and will highlight U-M researchers whose work is on the leading edge of innovation and discovery in data-intensive science.
Confirmed speakers include:
* Robert Groves, Georgetown University, former head of the Census Bureau and former U-M faculty member
* Lynn Vavreck, UCLA, contributor to New York Times’ “The Upshot” blog
* Tom Luo, Shenzhen University, Hong Kong
* Katherine Ensor, Rice University
* Christos Cassandras, Boston University
* Michelle Dunn, National Institutes of Health
* Xihong Lin, Harvard University
* Todd Coleman, University of California, San Diego
* Jonathan Schildcrout, Vanderbilt University
* Jieping Ye, U-M and DiDi

The symposium will also feature a student poster session, and opportunities for students to meet with potential employers interested in data scientists.
