The History of the Barbour Scholarship
Barbour Centennial Celebrations
Rackham Graduate School presents an informative session on the history of the Levi L. Barbour Scholarship. University regent Levi Barbour was inspired to create an endowment after traveling throughout Asia, where he met three women who had graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and then returned home to aid the development of their countries. Barbour wanted to support the opportunity for more women to receive an education and carry out the same mission, and his scholarship has now funded the studies of over 700 exceptional scholars. Join us to learn more about the fascinating history of the program and the incredible legacies of those involved. Everyone in attendance may continue the conversation over lunch immediately following the presentation. Please email rackham.alums@umich.edu with questions or for more information.
