This informal community event will address in a frank and direct way the relation between Classics and racism in the past, in order to acknowledge but also distance ourselves from this unfortunate past. There will also be an opportunity to confront current appropriations of ancient culture for racist purposes. Four or five ten-minute presentations addressing aspects of this topic from various sub-disciplinary perspectives (history, literature, philosophy, art and archaeology, historical linguistics) will be followed by ample time for discussion.
