As It Was, As It Is, and As It Might Be
Russ Collins is a history buff and an expert on its theater
history. Ann Arbor has wisely preserved many of its theaters: Michigan, State, Hill, Mendelsohn, and Rackham. Each has a fascinating history and architectural pedigree. However, many were lost - some tragically so and some the result of evolution. Russ Collins will provide highlights and historic tidbits of these fascinating buildings that celebrate the arts, entertainment, and community, as well as thoughts about Ann Arbor's development and what going to movies, concerts, and shows might be like in the future. Russ Collins is Executive Director of the Michigan Theater Foundation operating the Michigan Theater, the State Theatre, and Cinetopia - Detroit's International Film Festival.
