“The Music of March”
A concert of songs from the 3-volume "March" graphic novels by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell.
University carillonist Tiffany Ng will bring to life all of the songs in the pages of Civic Rights leader John Lewis' autobiographical graphic novels, March. The songs will be played in order of their appearance in the books, including the premiere of SMTD composition student Grant Rossi's arrangement of "Freedom is a Constant Struggle." Other Civil Rights Movement songs will include Good News, Chariot’s A-Comin’; We Shall Overcome; Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round; Buses Are A-Comin’; Woke Up This Morning (With My Mind Stayed On Freedom); This Little Light of Mine; and Pick ‘Em Up and Lay ‘Em Down.
