Rescheduled: Saturday Sampler Tour | Excavations at Karanis, Egypt: 1924–1935
Our sincere apologies, but the Kelsey Museum will be closed this afternoon, Saturday, July 28th. We apologize for the late notice! This tour will be rescheduled for Fall 2018.
Almost half of the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology's collection comes from the University of Michigan excavations at Karanis, Egypt. On this tour, we take a closer look at the wide range of artifacts discovered at Karanis, including everything from ancient sandals, doors, and windows to beautiful glass and children's toys. See Karanis as the excavators did through a selection of archival photographs taken at the time that many of the artifacts on display were discovered.
Saturday Sampler tours are free and open to all visitors. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend this tour, please contact the education office (734-647-4167) at least two weeks in advance. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the University to arrange.
