CutTime Simfonica® is shaking up classical music across Southeast Michigan. The quintet of strings and drums was started within the Detroit Symphony by bassist-composer Rick Robinson before spinning off in 2012. It info-tains with a surprising mix of pop, Latin, gospel, jazz, folk and dance elements in textural instrumental works. Audience members can join the fun on toy percussion. Featured are Robinson’s funkiest compositions, “Pork ‘n Beans” and “City of Trees” as well as “Beethoven’s 5th” and “Billie Jean.” See what Mozart and Brahms can do taken off the pedestal. Look for live stream video on Gifts of Art Facebook.
