Guest Master Class: Helena Kaupová, soprano
Czech soprano Helena Kaupová is professor of voice at both the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. Her operatic repertoire includes the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Donna Anna, Mimì, Nedda, Micaela, and Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), receiving, for the latter, the Czech Republic’s prestigious Thalia Prize in 1994; as well as the leading Czech roles of Mařenka, Kát’a, Jenůfa, Rusalka, and others.
Until her recent retirement, she was a permanent guest of Prague’s National Theatre, touring six times with them to Japan, and appearing as a guest in Toronto, Vancouver, Lisbon, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Tel Aviv, Liège, Paris, Wexford, Chile, and elsewhere.
