A National Crisis: Responding to the Decreased Numbers in Admissions
September UOC Event
Join us for the University Outreach Council's (UOC) September event: "A National Crisis - Responding to the Decreased Numbers in Admissions," held on September 22 from 1:00 - 2:30 PM (EST).
We will be reflecting on this topic with three main speakers:
- Audrey Williams June, the News-Data Manager of The Chronicle of Higher Education. She is the author of “Spring Enrollment’s Final Count Is In. Colleges Lost 600,000 Students,” which analyzed data from the National Clearinghouse from this last year.
- Ryan Fewins-Bliss, the Executive Director of the Michigan College Access Network. Ryan has worked in education and the nonprofit field for more than 15 years having served in K-12, higher education, and community organizations.
- Erica Sanders, the Director of the U-M Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Sanders has also been the director of recruitment and operations, director of review and evaluations, and assistant director for out-of-state recruitment.
A national and state-wide topic of interest, we will discuss this topic with a few U-M speakers on a more local level and brainstorm solutions on how your pre-college programs can ensure positive admissions experiences and increase the likelihood of students applying to college after your programs. This is a great opportunity to hear about best practices from experts and exchange ideas with peers.
