It includes Haggadahs of various shapes and sizes, ancient and modern, and in a number of different languages.\r\n\r\nThe Alterman collection was acquired by the University of Michigan Library last year with the help of the Frankel Center, and is housed in the Special Collections Library of the Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library. It includes more than 1,800 Haggadahs and is believed to be one of the largest Haggadah collections in the world. It is a medical analogue to the iconography of the main theme of the panel. Where the monumental panels celebrate the construc-tion of automobiles from forging steel to steel presses and final assembly, The Surgery Panel suggests the assembly of a human worker.
