This allows contemplation of the art making process and careful organization of the parts. As she assembles it piece by piece, the work grows in a way that closely relates to painting. Bieri received a grant from the State of Michigan in 2000 to study quilts and their patterns. She discovered that they often touch people on a personal level and encourage memories. Whether an army blanket or quilt, she delights to find a treasure that has a personal history that goes well beyond her and extends to the observer. Hide & Seek, Bieri\u2019s current series of art quilts incorporating fabrics with history, encourages viewer interaction and reminiscence.
