The communities imagined in these magazines are sometimes explicitly political or aesthetic, but more often both combine in writers\u2019 and artists\u2019 resistance to mass-market, industrial, bourgeois, and nationalist print cultures.\r\n\r\nThe magazines in this exhibit are mostly American and British, but many are distinctively cosmopolitan, crossing borders to engage with international movements like socialism, decadence, and modernism in their attempts to create an audience united by aesthetic and political ideals rather than nationality. Using a generalized linear model with terms corresponding to the visual stimulus, mouse running speed, and experimentally measured neuronal correlations, we modeled short term dynamics of L2\/3 murine visual cortical neurons to evaluate the relative importance of each factor to neuronal variability within single trials. We find single trial predictions improve most when conditioning on the experimentally measured local correlations in comparison to predictions based on the stimulus or running speed. Specifically, accurate predictions are driven by positively co-varying and synchronously active functional groups of neurons. Including functional groups in the model enhances decoding accuracy of sensory information compared to a model that assumes neuronal independence. Currently, in liver, a single subcutaneous administration supports a year of clinical efficacy, changing our vision of how medicine will be practiced in the future.\r\nThe unprecedented duration of effect relies on oligonucleotide endocytosis and entrapment within endosomal\/lysosomal compartments. These naturally formed, intracellular deposits provide a continuous release of compounds for RISC loading and productive silencing, supporting multi-month efficacy. Of course, this approach is dependent on extensive and complex chemical stabilization that ensures the survival of the oligonucleotides in highly aggressive biological environments.\r\nIn the context of fully stabilized compounds, we have used diverse chemical engineering to define the rules driving oligonucleotide distribution, efficacy, and toxicity. At this point, efficient modulation of gene expression in multiple extrahepatic tissues is possible (muscle, heart, fat, placenta, etc). One of our engineering efforts resulted in the identification of a di-branched chemical scaffold that enables potent and durable gene silencing in the brain and spinal cord. Using huntingtin \u2013 the causative gene in Huntington disease \u2013 as a model, we demonstrate that CNS-active RNAi induces potent protein silencing (~ 90%) in all brain regions tested in both rodents and non-human primates. Her second completed short, Lazos, was an Official Selection at the 2006 Huesca Film Festival in Spain, Short Shorts Film Festival M\u00e9xico 2006, Borges in Curt 2006 in Spain, Los Angeles International Short Film Festival 2006, Cartagena International Film Festival 2006, XXII Festival Internacional de Cine in Guadalajara, M\u00e9xico. Her first screenplay for a feature film, Angelica, was selected by the IBERMEDIA Program to receive development support and in 2011 for co-production. She is Angelica's producer, screenwriter, directors, and editor. This paper evaluates the economic consequences of being denied an abortion on the basis of gestational age of the pregnancy. Our analysis relies on new linkages to administrative data on ten years of credit reports for participants in the Turnaway Study, the first study to collect high-quality, longitudinal data on women receiving or being denied a wanted abortion. The study recruited women seeking an abortion at 30 health providers located in 21 states who fell in to one of two groups: the first group included women with pregnancies close to the facility's gestational age limit who received a wanted abortion (Near Limit Abortion Group), while the second group was women with pregnancies just over the facility's gestational age limit who were turned away without receiving an abortion (Turnaway Group). Our analysis compares differences in credit report outcomes for these two groups for 3 years prior and up to 5 years following the intended abortion using an event study design. We find that the trajectories for these outcomes are similar for the two groups of women during the pre-period. However, following their visit to the abortion provider, we find evidence of a large and persistent increase in financial distress for the women who were denied an abortion that is sustained for the 6 years following the intended abortion.\r\n\r\nWith Diana G. Despite the attention that has been given this complex\u00a0topic in both the professional and lay press the progress towards making patient safety a real priority in healthcare has been limited. Transforming healthcare so that patient safety becomes an inherent property embedded in the very fabric of the organization requires the adoption of\u00a0a variety of values, techniques, and processes that are continually\u00a0 reinforced by the words and deeds of leadership at all levels. Critical elements and methods for achieving this goal will be discussed.\r\n\r\nDr. James P. Bagian is the Director of the Center for Healthcare Engineering and Patient Safety and is a Professor in the\u00a0 Department of Anesthesiology in the Medical School and the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan.\u00a0Previously, he served as the first Director of the VA National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) and the first Chief Patient Safety Officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs from 1999 to 2010 where he developed numerous patient safety related tools and programs that have been adopted nationally and internationally. Dr. Bagian served as a NASA astronaut and is a veteran of two Space Shuttle missions and was an investigator of both the Challenger and Columbia Space Shuttle mishaps. Presently, he is applying systems engineering approaches to the analysis of medical adverse events and the development and implementation of systems-based corrective actions that will enhance patient safety primarily through preventive means. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Drexel University and his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.\u00a0He is a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association, a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and has received numerous awards for his work in the field of patient safety and aerospace medicine.\r\n\r\n1123 LBME is room 1123 in the Ann & Robert H.
