New editions of the city atlas continued to be printed through 1617. Hogenberg, one of the most prolific engravers of the time, was joined by many other engravers in creating the Civitates. This exhibit will include portraits, stadium landscapes and images from Michigan sports teams. Religious devotion in ancient Kush (a region located in modern-day northern Sudan), involved pilgrimage and leaving informal marks on temples, pyramids, and other monumental structures. These graffiti are found in temples throughout the later (\u201cMeroitic\u201d) period of Kush, when it bordered Roman Egypt. They represent one of the few direct traces of the devotional practices of private people in Kush and hint at individuals\u2019 thoughts, values, and daily lives. This exhibition explores the times and places in which Kushite graffiti were inscribed through photos, text, and interactive media presentations. Sawyer (b. 1976) is an American figurative artist, educator, and curator living and working in Detroit, Michigan. His work centers around themes of identity, both individual and collective, politics, race, history and pop culture. In 2013, Sawyer expanded his studio practice to include large public murals and collaborative projects throughout Detroit. Sawyer is a professor of art at Oakland Community College and teaches drawing at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. His passion for arts education lead to his community work with youth including various community arts programs throughout New York, where he served as an art director, teacher, curriculum specialist, and more. Most recently, in early 2014, Sawyer started the first teen arts council in Michigan for the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. He earned an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art: Graduate School of Figurative Art and a BFA in drawing & painting from Eastern Michigan University. activity has a substantial influence on incoming sensory input and on the manner by which this input is processed. In the visual modality, locomotion has been shown to increase responses to visual stimuli in the visual cortex. Interestingly, within the auditory modality locomotion has been associated with inhibited spontaneous and sound-evoked responses in pyramidal cells, with the strongest inhibition observed in response to reafferent, self-generated sounds. However, previous studies have focused on the effect of locomotion on the activity of single cells, while the effect of locomotion on local network dynamics in the auditory cortex remains largely unknown. To address this knowledge gap we used two-photon calcium imaging to monitor activity in local neuronal ensembles in the auditory cortex of awake head-fixed Thy1-GCaMP6f mice that were free to stand, walk or run on a treadmill. Using this approach we analyzed single-cell and network response properties of excitatory pyramidal neurons to different sounds under different behavioral states. Our preliminary results demonstrate substantial heterogeneity of locomotion-related modulation of neural activity within local neural ensembles. Neighboring neurons exhibited differential and often divergent influence by locomotion: while some neurons exhibited reduced activity during locomotion as expected, responses of other neurons within the same ensemble were often strongly enhanced. Furthermore, heterogeneity in the effect of locomotion was observed on both spontaneous and sound-evoked responses, and for neural responses to different types of sound stimuli. This group can help you build skills to counter the effects.\r\n\r\nIf you think social anxiety is negatively affecting your relationships, your work, or your overall mental health, this group might be the next step for you. Clinicians at the Psychological Clinic use evidence-based group therapy to help participants learn to identify and shift unhealthy thinking patterns. You will build coping skills and increase confidence in a supportive environment and at your own pace.
