Three-dimensional color flow with partial volume correction (PVC) is a relatively new method for measuring blood flow that accounts for beams located partially outside of the blood vessel. Recent work has shown that the relationship between color flow power and partially perfused voxels is nonlinear. This work investigates the statistics of color power measurements in simulated plug flow to help explain this nonlinear behavior. Data was acquired using Field II simulations in which a 3.75 MHz mechanically swept linear array obtained RF data of blood moving through a vessel. Blood in the vessel exhibited plug flow, and tissue backscatter was set to 40 dB below blood. The statistics of color power at each point in the processing chain were analyzed using histograms, established results in ultrasound statistics, and derived probability density functions (pdfs). For locations completely inside the beam, power before additional processing showed exponential behavior, whereas the square root of power, i.e., amplitude, was Rician distributed. After implementing the Kasai algorithm, the power values could be estimated with a gamma distribution with a shape parameter of 2.21. Kasai powers corresponding to tissue could also be fitted with a gamma distribution, albeit with a shape parameter close to 1, indicating close to exponential behavior. Kasai powers for partial volume data were intermediate between the tissue and blood data. The carillon is an outdoor instrument, and attendees are requested to maintain social distance in the outdoor listening areas surrounding the towers. This information will be kept for 21 days after the concert, and will only be used for contact tracing if confirmed COVID-19 cases become associated with the gathering.\n\nBIOGRAPHY: Dr. Linda Dzuris became Clemson\u2019s first University Carillonneur in 1999 and is a Professor of Music in the Department of Performing Arts.\u202fAdditionally, Dzuris is a performance instructor of the North American Carillon School, which was established in 2013 as affiliate and American representative of the Royal Carillon School \u2018Jef Denyn\u2019 in Mechelen, Belgium. She received her B.M., M.M., and D.M.A. degrees in organ performance and church music from the University of Michigan. Carillon study was also done in Ann Arbor, MI, with additional study at The Netherlands Carillon School in Amersfoort, NL. \u202fDzuris is a former board member, a current adjudicator on the Associate Carillonneur Evaluation Committee, and a juror on the Carillonneur Exam Committee for the GCNA. \u202fShe has been a featured guest artist in carillon concert series throughout the United States, The Netherlands, France, and Switzerland. In 2017, Dzuris performed concerts on behalf of the GCNA at the 19th World Carillon Federation Congress held in Barcelona, Spain.
