Most notably, she created and implemented the transformational Climate Resilient and Equitable Water Systems (CREWS) Initiative at the Kresge Foundation as a Senior Program Officer; she was the first Director of WE ACT for Environmental Justice\u2019s federal policy office in Washington, DC; and, her doctoral research illuminated the impact of climate change & extreme heat on the low-income, elderly in Detroit, and is still referenced to drive public health interventions. \r\n\r\nA native of Detroit, Jalonne earned a Ph.D. in environmental health sciences from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, a master\u2019s degree in environmental engineering from Southern Methodist University, a bachelor\u2019s degree in chemical engineering from Northwestern University, and her certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. \r\n\r\nJalonne serves on multiple national and local academic, non-profit and for-profit Boards. The social complexity hypothesis, which posits that intelligence evolved to cope with the labile behavior of group-mates, has been strongly supported by work on the socio-cognitive abilities of primates and other animals. I review the remarkable convergence in social complexity between old-world primates and spotted hyenas, and describe our tests of the social complexity hypothesis in regard to both cognition and brain size in hyenas. Behavioral and morphological data indicate remarkable convergence between primates and hyenas with respect to their abilities in the domain of social cognition. However, social complexity fails to predict either brain volume or frontal cortex volume in a large array of mammalian carnivores. To inquire whether social complexity can explain the evolution of domain-general intelligence, we presented simple puzzles to members of 41 zoo-housed carnivore species, and found that species with larger relative brain size were better at solving the puzzles. However, social complexity failed to predict success in this task. This analysis provides a novel perspective on the evolving field of simulation from an optional to essential modality in healthcare professions education.\r\n\r\nSince 2005, the American College of Surgeons Accredited Educational Institutes has provided accreditation of surgically-focused simulation centers with the added benefit of identifying best practices defined as \u201careas far exceeding the accreditation standards or novel methods of advancing high quality, impactful education.\u201d To evaluate the evolution of accreditation feedback and embedded associations, the compiled list of 337 best practices identified from all 247 site visits over a eight-year period was analyzed and visualized using epistemic network analysis (ENA), a quantitative ethnographic technique for modeling the structure of connections in qualitative data. The results indicated that best practices evolved from an early focus on teaching methods, faculty and curriculum development to more advanced educational topics including assessment, research, resources and overall center governance. Contemporary with the Ancient Near Eastern civilizations were the Egyptians. We will focus on early Egyptian art and one of their pyramids as well as later sculptures of the human form, which became canonized and perfected in all media. \r\n\r\nInstructor Molly Lindner brings eleven years of teaching art history at Kent State University to this subject. She is curator and host of artistic, cultural salons and social justice panels through her production company Cafe de la Culture. She is also writer, director, and producer of poetic theater and independent film. Cara\u2019s work has been received by audiences and institutions in France, Turkey, Brazil and throughout the United States. Cara has worked as a Broadway actor and singer, youth arts mentor, educational designer, and residency teaching artist. To this end I will discuss how we can understand the dynamics of the dipolar quantum gas in terms of a long-range highly-collective spin model in mode-space. The highly collective nature of the resulting model allows us to overcome challenges of losses inherent to dipolar molecules in bulk systems, and results in dynamics robust to dephasing and thermal noise in the degenerate quantum degenerate regime.\r\n\r\nI will then continue by presenting recent experimental work developing the tool box required to prepare and probe molecules in layer geometries, and our theoretical work on understanding the spin dynamics resulting from dipolar exchange. The dipolar interaction induced spin exchange between adjacent layers enables strong losses within layers, allowing to probe the coherent exchange process via the measurement of the molecular loss. I will discuss how in presence of electric field gradients the spin dynamics can only be understood in terms of inelastic collisions between molecules in adjacent layers, converting motional into internal energy during the exchange process. This part highlights how motional dynamics and spin dynamics are intertwined in this system.\r\n\r\nFinally I will discuss the interplay of light-mediated dipolar interactions, atomic motion and quantum statistics in the problem of observing Pauli-blocking enhanced life-times of optically excited states in a 2D Fermi gas.
