This is a great opportunity to join alongside P&G employees and industry leaders to further your professional development while also learning more about the largest CPG company in the world, Procter & Gamble!

Our theme for this year is “Reset the Bar for Superior Performance and Irresistible Innovation,” striking a balance between navigating today’s business challenges and innovating for the future. Artificial intelligence will be a prominent topic for many sessions. But so will supply chain innovation, employee experience, and sustainability – all critical elementsof a successful business today and tomorrow.

A critical thread throughout the 12th Annual Signal Summit will be how to deliver superior performance across business fundamentals. This requires consistent consumer focus and operational excellence, combined with agility and adaptability. In turn, companies create a culture where people challenge themselves and others to redefine what success looks like.

For Signal 2023 we have a line-up of great speakers who will inspire and educate us on how to reset the bar:

Rather than imagining it as a singular, coherent object, this exhibit seeks to introduce the diversity, difference, and complexity inherent in feminist activism in Japan. As in other cultural contexts, “feminism” in Japan can invoke sharply different associations, from office workers trying to reshape taken-for-granted structures of power and authority, to mothers advocating for safer school lunches after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disasters, and queer couples seeking legal recognition for the families they have created. Mainstream feminist activism in Japan has focused on advocating for change in families, workplaces, schools, political institutions, and laws, among many other contexts. Many – but certainly not all – feminist activists in Japan are also responding to the lasting legacies of Japanese colonial projects, working toward recognition, repair, and meaningful reparations for racial and gender-based violence that continue to impact communities disproportionately.

This exhibit features original portraits of feminists who have shaped the landscape of women's and gender rights in Japan and beyond. Created by nine contemporary artists in Japan and the United States, the portraits and accompanying texts challenge simplistic understandings of ""feminism"" while also drawing attention to a diversity of experiences, needs, and activism within Japan. This exhibit also spotlights the history of Japanese studies at the University of Michigan in conjunction with the Center for Japanese Studies' 75th anniversary celebration.

“Portraits of Feminism in Japan” is open for viewing M-F 9am-4pm or by appointment. University of Michigan instructors can email LaneHallExhibits@umich.edu to request a group tour or schedule a class visit.

In its second iteration, the program recognizes the creativity, rigor, and innovation of Michigan-based artists and collaboratives — and honors their role in inspiring the next generations of artists in our state. This initiative showcases the excellence and artistic merit of contemporary art practices in Michigan.
In the of fall of 2022, Stamps Gallery announced an open call for artwork, inviting emerging and mid-career contemporary artists from Michigan working in all types of media to apply. We received 309 applications, a record number for the program.
A shortlist of three artists were selected by a prominent national panel of jurors: Neil A. Barclay, President & CEO of Charles Wright Museum of African American Art, Shannon Rae Stratton, Executive Director of Ox-Bow School of Art and Artists' Residency, and Nayda Collazo-Llorens, award-winning artist and winner of the inaugural Envision: Michigan Artist Initiative Award (2020-2021).

Meet the shortlisted finalist artists for Envision: The Michigan Artist Initiative 2023:
Bakpak Durden is a “self-taught” multi-hyphenate antidisciplinary artist and alchemist. Pulling from various figurative art techniques, including hyperrealism, baroque, and veristic surrealism, Durden employs a wide range of mediums—oil and acrylic paint, graphite, film photography, and the written word—to construct their hyper-surrealistic and conceptual works of art. Parisa Ghaderi is a visual artist, curator, educator, and filmmaker. She earned her BA in Visual Communications from Art & Architecture University (Tehran, Iran) and her MFA at Stamps School in 2014. She works across different media. She has made four short films and two animations and recently directed a performance about the border situation in the U.S. for Iranian immigrants. Levon Kafafian is a Detroit-based Armenian-American weaver working the narrative threads of costume, artifact, ritual, and installation into stories about possible worlds and potential futures. They infuse their stories and cloth with future ancestral practice, hybridity, and magic.
Durden, Ghaderi, and Kafafian will present their work at Stamps Gallery from June 1-July 29, 2023. They will receive financial, logistical and curatorial support from the professional staff at Stamps Gallery.
The jury will select a winner, who will be announced at the award ceremony on June 29, 2023. The winning artist will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize.

Named Ireland's Folk Band of the Year, The High Kings all grew up in households soaked in the Irish musical tradition, and each member of the band witnessed firsthand the power of well-crafted Irish music on an audience. They have sold out hundreds of shows, in Ireland and the U.S., made numerous TV appearances, and achieved platinum status twice. The High Kings showcase their incredible versatility and skills as multi-instrumentalists, playing 13 instruments between them bringing a rousing acoustic flavor to brand-new songs as well as some old favorites. The High Kings are continuing to live up to their reputation as a phenomenal live band, serving up laughter, good times, and even the odd sing-along. They are, quite simply, one of the great bands in Celtic music.
