SUMMARY:Exhibition:Harbingers of Dreams
DESCRIPTION:Born in 1945\, artist\, educator\, and mentor Teresa Tolliver has lived and worked in South Central L.A. for three decades. In 2022\, she opened her first one-woman show at the prominent Sebastian Gladstone Gallery. Most recently\, her work has been chosen for inclusion as part of L.A.’s Hammer Museum Biennial\, which runs concurrently with her exhibition Harbingers of Dreams in the Institute for the Humanities Gallery.\n\nTolliver refers to her process as “creative recycling”: forging found and thrifted materials\, and repurposing them. These frenetic bundles of coils\, adornments\, wires\, and loose ends express the artist’s feelings\, perspectives\, and everyday way of living.\n\nEarlier works of the artist are on a smaller scale and doll-like. They are intimate\, imaginative references to Tolliver’s own girlhood in a world lacking adequate or authentic representations of Black life.\n\nTolliver’s more recent figurative assemblages are life-size\, larger-than-life\, looming. They command space and celebrate it. There is an inherent connection between these sculptures and the long-established history of African American yard art\, where plants\, statuary\, and artistic creations communicate themes of personal space\, freedom of expression\, and dreams of independence. Tolliver’s bold visual choices and material combinations are refusals of outside value judgments and hierarchies.\n\nWhen visiting artist Teresa Tolliver's home studio\, one expects the figures will spring to life\, otherworldly. They seem to gather and congregate. There are no distractions from the outside\, save the light coming through the window. Through subtle details like molding\, furniture\, and drawers inspired by Tolliver’s own domestic space\, Harbingers of Dreams attempts to capture the resplendent and spiritual nature of such a visit\, with the opportunity to sit among the artist’s creations.\n\nTolliver’s figurative sculptures appear as embodiments of the city of L.A. and its diverse communities and neighborhoods. They are assemblages of disparate influences\, esthetics\, and materials: prefab\, handmade\, urban\, nostalgic\, opulent\, functional\, garish\, and celestial. A visual cacophony of colors\, influences\, designs\, and forms\, each figure beckons us towards futures in the making.\n\nTeresa Tolliver is the Paula and Edwin Sidman Fellow in the Arts at the Institute for the Humanities. This event is part of the LSA's fall 2023 Arts & Resistance theme semester.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Manga no Ryokou: The “Manga Map” and A Journey Through the Art of Depiction in Japanese Cartography
DESCRIPTION:The exhibit examines the intersection between art\, narrative\, and geography within Japanese cartography. It centers on the titular “manga map”\, a rare Japanese travel map of Japan (ca. 1934) that is densely packed with manga illustrations detailing local folklore\, history\, architecture\, flora/fauna\, and more. The exhibit also includes works of Japanese art and cartography in order to consider the dichotomy between artistry and geographic depiction\, and how that plays with the definition of a “map.”\n\nAlongside the exhibit\, the manga map is also part of a new digital humanities preservation project at the library using the online crowd-sourcing platform Zooniverse\, where the map will be transcribed/translated and made into a fully interactive digital map. More information is available at the exhibit.\n\nBoth the exhibit and the Zooniverse project were created as a summer internship capstone project by Joel Liesenberg\, a dual-degree master’s student in International and Regional Studies focusing in Japanese studies and the School of Information focusing in digital curation.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Shadow and Light : Solidarity and Connection with Iraqi Academics
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit incorporates a selection of work from the Shadow and Light project\, an initiative memorializing Iraqi academics assassinated between 2003-2013\, a timeframe which roughly parallels the US-led invasion and occupation of Iraq. \n\nParticipants from around the world — including Iraqis in diaspora — contributed photographs and personal statements responding to the loss of a particular Iraqi academic listed by the Spanish Campaign against the Occupation and for the Sovereignty of Iraq (La Campaña Estatal contra la Ocupación y por la Soberanía de Iraq / IraqSolidaridad 2005-2013). \n\nThe project emerges from a broader effort undertaken by Iraqis and allies to document the assault on Iraqi scholars\, intellectuals\, and cultural institutions which flared in the wake of the destruction and division wrought by the US-led invasion and occupation. Death threats and assassinations\, politically motivated sectarian violence\, rampant corruption\, and de-Ba’athification policies only further destabilized an educational system already heaving under the devastation of wars\, authoritarian regimes\, and harsh economic sanctions.\n\nThis exhibit invites solidarity with the academics targeted\, but also deeper connection with their experiences and the richness of Iraqi academic life through their written legacies and the testimonies of surviving academics\, many of whom were driven into exile.\n\nThis exhibit in the north lobby is available during Hatcher Library hours (https://myumi.ch/p75dd).\n\nA companion online exhibit\, Tracing Iraqi Artists: From Shadow to Light (https://myumi.ch/n7xre)\, explores modern Iraqi struggle and resistance through contemporary visual art and connection to Iraqi artists and educators. The curators of the online exhibit\, 2023 Michigan Library Scholars Zainab Hakim and Serena Safawi\, hope to center surviving Iraqi artists as they explore their national and artistic identities and respond to the cycles of violence caused by the Iran-Iraq war\, sanctions\, and occupation.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:The Other 9-11: Reflections on the Anniversary of the 1973 Coup in Chile. “Secrets of State: The Declassified History of the Chilean Dictatorship” Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The documents in this exhibit were declassified and made public as a result of years of research and FOIA advocacy by those promoting openness\, particularly members of the National Security Archive. In the wake of the historic arrest in London of General Pinochet in October 1998\, their efforts\, among others\, led President Bill Clinton to launch a special Chile Declassification Project in 1999 and the eventual release of over 24\,000 formerly top secret documents.\n\nCurated by Peter Kornbluh (Director of the Chile Documentation Project at the National Security Archive\, an NGO dedicated to freedom of information and transparency)\, this exhibit was co-designed by Eimeel Castillo (Ph.D. Candidate in History and Women’s and Gender Studies) and Victoria Langland (Associate Professor of History).\n\nCosponsors: University of Michigan [Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies\; International Institute\; College of Literature\, Science\, and the Arts\; Office of Research\; Department of History\; Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies\; Museum Studies Program\; Institute for the Humanities] and Interfaith Council for Peace & Justice

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Illustrating the Renaissance Book: From Illumination to Woodcut
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a selection of manuscripts and early printed books from the 15th to the 17th centuries that were illustrated with illuminations and woodcuts. Throughout the European Renaissance (1300-1700)\, many book illustrations were exclusively ornamental\, while others focused on enhancing the meaning of the text. However\, as the pages on display attest\, all these illustrations share a common ground: they reveal the aesthetic and intellectual fashions first proposed by Italian artists of the 1400s\, who were strongly committed to the recovery of the past of classical antiquity.\n\nThe word “Illumination\,” from the Latin illuminare\, “to enlighten or to illuminate\,” refers to the embellishment of a manuscript or early printed book with luminous colors\, notably gold and silver. This illumination was prominent in the frontispiece\, or first page of text\, which included the decoration of its borders and initial letter\, and even miniatures\, that is\, scenes with an independent narrative. With the introduction of movable-type printing in 1454\, these illuminations would be gradually replaced by woodcuts\, which were printed from a woodblock that had been cut by knife along the grain of the wood.\n\nAvailable during Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Room hours (https://myumi.ch/2m7d4).\n\nJoin us on September 13 for a talk by Pablo Alvarez\, curator of the exhibit.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Sarah Buckius: !!!techn010ffspring!!!
DESCRIPTION:Come explore the intricate and interlocking world of Sarah Buckius’ “!!!techn010ffspring!!!” where feminist art meets science and the history of invention. On view at Lane Hall as part of U-M Arts Initiative’s themed semester on Arts & Resistance\, “!!!techn010ffspring!!!” critiques the patriarchal paradigms of the STEM field by highlighting the history of women inventors. This exhibition brings conceptual invention in fine art and performance to the disciplines of information technology\, robotics\, and engineering. Buckius creates “technoffsprings”: complex machines that weave together the history of inventions related to the gendered labor of women\, especially regarding women’s social roles as caregivers and subjects of care themselves. \nTrained as an engineer and an artist\, Buckius’ machines are intentionally complex\, layered\, and illogical or absurdly logical. In the nature of women’s caregiving\, they teeter between order and chaos. Her “digital tinkerings” tell epic tales of motherhood\, technology\, female bodies\, and commerce—both personal and externalized through women’s inventions and early forays that bridged caregiving and commerce. Buckius' work proposes improvisation as a form of absurdist resistance to\, and alternative to\, patriarchal\, capitalist\, production-based\, and seemingly rational\, useful\, logical systems. \n“!!!techn010ffspring!!!” is open for viewing M-F\, 9am-4pm or by appointment. University of Michigan instructors can email LaneHallExhibits@umich.edu to request a group tour or schedule a class visit.\nThis project was made possible by a grant from the Arts Initiative at the University of Michigan and co-sponsored by U-M’s Department of Women’s and Gender Studies and the Institute for Research on Women and Gender with support from the Santa Cruz County Arts Council.

DESCRIPTION:Featuring work by Gina Gibson\, UN/EARTH explores science and art from a mile underground. Located in the former Homestake gold mine in Lead\, South Dakota\, the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) houses experiments that give us a better understanding of the universe. The location—deep underground—provides a near-perfect environment for experiments that need to escape the constant bombardment of cosmic radiation\, which can interfere with the detection of rare physics events. Built in collaboration with the University of Michigan\, the LUX-Zeplin is the world’s most sensitive dark matter experiment. SURF also hosts experiments in biology\, geology and engineering.\n\nGina Gibson is an internationally exhibiting artist and professor of Graphic Design at Black Hills State University. In 2019\, Gibson became the first artist in residence at the Sanford Underground Research Facility. Gibson's work celebrates the search deep below the surface for beauty in the old and new\, the light and dark\, and the known and unknown.\n\nUN/EARTH was developed in collaboration with the U-M Department of Physics\, the Sanford Underground Research Facility and Black Hills State University.

DESCRIPTION:Stop by the Student Showcase display in the museum’s main atrium\, behind the mastodons\, to see Molecules of Life.\n\nAugust 2023–July 2024\n\nMolecules of Life (Student Showcase)\nDiscover the connection between form and function as you explore the molecular building blocks of life. In the realm of biological macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids\, form determines function\, so visualizing the three-dimensional structures of molecules is key in researching the ‘tiny’ macromolecules that perform vital functions in our cells. In Biophysics 421\, under the guidance of Markos Koutmos\, Assistant Professor of Biophysics & Chemistry\, and Liz Tidwell\, PhD candidate in Biophysics\, students created models with digital modeling software and brought them to life via 3D printing. This exhibit showcases the 3D printed molecules\, scaled up to better reveal the structures that inform\, make\, break\, modify\, and move within the body.

SUMMARY:Tours:Building on a Century of Collecting at the Clements Library
DESCRIPTION:As we celebrate the library’s centennial\, this exhibit is an attempt to answer a question asked often by visitors\, how do you decide what to acquire to add to your collections.\n\nIt builds on the landmark publication of the library’s 75th anniversary\, One Hundred and One Treasures From the Collections of the William L. Clements Library\, edited by former library director John Dann. This exhibit—and its expanded online version—pairs items from 101 Treasures with related items that have for the most part been acquired since 1998. Those that were acquired earlier are items about which we’ve learned new things in the intervening 25 years.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:EEB Tuesday Lunch Seminar - Unsupervised Learning as an Analog for Evolvability in Genotype-Phenotype Maps
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology's weekly lunch series. \n\nAbout: The capability of an evolutionary substrate to generate novel phenotypic variation that is viable under mutation\, referred to as evolvability\, underpins the process of adaptive evolution. However\, evolutionary simulations using models with high-dimensional phenotypes often exhibit stunted evolvability in the absence of indirect genotype-phenotype mapping that facilitates coordinated changes over many phenotypic traits. If these genotype-phenotype maps bias toward phenotypic viability and maintain phenotypic diversity\, the resulting genetic search space will be lower-dimensional and less rugged\, making it more conducive to adaptive evolution. Such evolvability in genotype-phenotype maps shares significant conceptual overlap with unsupervised learning\, which extracts regularities and structure from unlabeled data that can enable lower-dimensional\, compact representations of complex data like images and text. Here\, we report a suite of benchmark fitness landscapes designed to facilitate head-to-head comparison of unsupervised learning techniques and evolved genotype-phenotype maps. This framework will contribute critical experimental rigor to ongoing efforts to harness unsupervised learning as a theoretical framework to understand evolvability. Exploration of unsupervised learning methods in engineering evolvable genotype-phenotype maps has great promise to benefit application-oriented evolutionary computation\, as well.

SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:LRCCS Noon Lecture Series | If You Meet the Medical Buddha on the Road\, Kill Him! Tibetan Buddhist Refusals of Brainhood and/as the Figure of Modernity
DESCRIPTION:Attend in person or via Zoom. Zoom registration at https://myumi.ch/j7AQz.\n\nBuddhists in the last century have hardly been unanimous in seeing Dharmic models of body-mind as commensurable with those of science and biomedicine. Despite this\, the intellectual rigor and analytical creativity of Buddhist rejections of materialist models of body-mind\, empiricism\, and scientism remain curiously understudied. This talk surveys the material logics of an extensive refusal of brainhood and the authority of the brain sciences staged by the Tibetan dialectician Lobsang Gyatso (Blo bzang rgya mtsho\, 1928-1997).\n \n Matthew King is Director of Asian Studies and Professor of Transnational Buddhism at the University of California\, Riverside. He is the author of many articles on Buddhist intellectual history along the Tibeto-Mongolian interface and on Tibetan Buddhist scholastic interpretations of the Qing Empire\, state socialism\, and humanism. His first book\, \"Ocean of Milk\, Ocean of Blood: A Mongolian Monk in the Ruins of the Qing Empire\" (Columbia University Press\, 2019) won several awards including the American Academy of Religion Best Book Award in Textual Studies. His most recent book is entitled In the \"Forest of the Blind: The Eurasian Journey of Faxian's Record of Buddhist Kingdoms\" (Columbia University Press\, 2022).

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:RTG Number Theory: Structures on ABV-packets for p-adic groups
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: In 1989\, Arthur proposed a definition of local Arthur packets which arose from global considerations. A couple years later\, ABV-packets were defined by purely local methods for connected reductive real groups and Vogan conjectured that they generalize local Arthur packets. More recently\, Cunningham et al. defined ABV-packets for p-adic groups which also conjecturally generalize local Arthur packets. In this talk\, we consider some intersection problems for ABV-packets of p-adic groups motivated by local Arthur packets.

SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:Actualizing Cultural Memory: Persia in the Middle and Late Byzantine Tradition
DESCRIPTION:In the writings of modern scholars\, Iran seemingly disappears from the pages of Byzantine history following the Muslim conquest of the Sasanian Empire. Starting from the seventh century\, interactions between Byzantium and the Orient are typically described as relations with Arabs and various Turkic polities. However\, according to my hypothesis\, Iran did not vanish from the intellectual purview of the Byzantines. They remained cognizant of Persia and were aware of the rise of Neo-Persian culture. This paper discusses Byzantine knowledge of Persia during the middle and late Byzantine periods\, as well as the impact of Persian culture on Byzantine social and cultural life. In Byzantine culture\, Persia is mostly featured as an element of cultural memory. Simultaneously\, Neo-Persian culture—in the realms of belles-lettres\, art\, technology\, trade\, and so forth—exerted a visible influence on the Byzantine world.\n\nRustam Shukurov\, PhD\, Dr. Habil. in History (2012)\, is a Visiting Researcher at the University of St Andrews. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1984 and worked there for more than 30 years as a lecturer in Byzantine and Medieval studies. He has published several monographs\, translations\, and articles on Byzantium\, Iranian and Turkic History\, including The Grand Komnenoi and the Orient\, 1204–1461 (Moscow\, 2001) and The Byzantine Turks\, 1204–1461 (Leiden\; Boston\, 2016).

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Chemical tools to capture and control hexosamine sugar signaling in hyperglycemic disease
DESCRIPTION:All cells use sugar\, but a consequence of unbalanced sugar usage is disease through hexosamine sugar signaling pathways including glucosamines. To precisely define the roles of hexosamine sugar-driven effects\, the Fehl Group designs chemical tools sensitive for live-cell applications\, for example our light-controlled photosugars and our cell compartment-specific \"GlycoID\" labeling strategy. We apply chemical biology tools at the interface of metabolism disease and cancer pathways to discover new roles for glucose-driven events in cells and disease. A key target area is determining the mechanisms and potential treatment strategies for cancers that have elevated risk in patients with hyperglycemia.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:CM-AMO Seminar | Combining Thermodynamic and Electronic Methods for Materials Design
DESCRIPTION:Exploiting advanced thermodynamic and electronic properties is an efficient way to design experimentally accessible novel materials. Consideration of formation enthalpy and thermodynamic phase diagrams\, in which theoretical predictions rely on expensive computational methods\, is crucial in predicting stability and synthesizability. In this talk\, first\, I will present an efficient method with low cost to predict thermodynamic phase diagrams based on formation enthalpy and Gibbs energy calculations. Next\, I will share how this method can be employed to design experimentally accessible new topological phases and how different material engineering approaches—e.g.\, strain and thickness—can be used to investigate the controllability of these topological states.\n\nBio: Demet Usanmaz is an Assistant Professor of Physics in the Department of Natural Sciences at the Kettering University. She earned her Ph.D. in Physics at Gazi University in Turkey and moved to the University of Exeter\, UK as a postdoctoral researcher. Before her current position\, she was a postdoctoral associate at the Center for Autonomous Materials Design in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University. Dr. Usanmaz's current research focuses on designing new materials for clean energy and spintronics applications by investigating materials' thermodynamic and electronic properties using high-throughput ab initio methods. She received an NSF LEAPS-MPS award in 2023.

SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:WCED Roundtable. Authoritarian Ideologies in the Americas
DESCRIPTION:Attend in person or via Zoom. Zoom registration at http://myumi.ch/DwMkx\n\nAuthoritarianism is roaring across the Americas\, from North to South. This roundtable looks comparatively and historically at the diverse array of ideologies that continue to underlie authoritarianism in the Western Hemisphere\, including racism\, gender bias\, and both the fear of socialism and socialism itself.\n \n Marilia Corrêa is a historian who specializes in Modern Latin America. She is currently working on a book manuscript examining the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985) and its persecution of military officers and soldiers labeled as subversives. She studies how military regimes regulate and restructure sectors not traditionally associated with political or social dissent\, and explores how the traumas the dictatorship inflicted onto servicemen altered their sense of belonging in ways that transcended the era of dictatorship.\n \n Ben Cowan received his AB from Harvard University and his MA and PhD from UCLA. His interest in right-wing radicalism\, morality\, sexuality\, and 20th-century imperialism led him to focus on Cold War Brazil\, with a specialization in the cultural and gender history of the post-1964 era. Dr. Cowan’s first book\, *Securing Sex: Morality and Repression in the Making of Cold War Brazil\,* was published by the University of North Carolina Press in 2016. *Securing Sex* won three book awards\, including the prestigious Brazil Section Book Award from the Latin American Studies Association.\n \n Vincent Mauro is a WCED Postdoctoral Fellow for 2023-2025. He studies comparative politics\, and in particular the politics of inequality and redistribution in democracies. He received his PhD in Government from Cornell University in 2023. His book project argues that democracy can certainly spark an impetus for redistribution\, but representation – particularly in the developing world – is far from given\, and redistributive outcomes across democracies are highly dependent on the development of party systems. Utilizing analysis on a variety of income data\, as well as two longitudinal cases of Brazil and Colombia based on extensive archival work\, he finds that countries with stable multi-party systems are more likely to redistribute income\, as well as possess lower levels of inequality\, than inchoate counterparts.\n \n Jen Triplett is a qualitative comparative-historical sociologist working in the subfields of political sociology\, sociology of culture\, gender\, collective behavior and social movements\, and (increasingly) international migration. She investigates how top-down political projects that link together\, or \"articulate\,\" disparate social groups into a unifying political identity are facilitated or constrained by the cultural dynamics of boundary-making\, identity work\, and subject formation that such projects entail. Her dissertation examines how cultural constraints on projects of political articulation change over time and are refracted through key events\, such as military\, political\, or economic crises.\n\nIf there is anything we can do to make this event accessible to you\, please contact us at emergingdemocracies@umich.edu. Please be aware that advance notice is necessary as some accommodations may require more time for the university to arrange.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Student Analysis Seminar: Lax Equations and the Toda Lattice
DESCRIPTION:The Toda lattice is a system of ordinary differential equations describing the motion of particles on a line connected via springs. This Toda lattice system is notable for its ability to be rewritten as a Lax equation\, a certain differential equation of time-dependent linear operators. In this talk\, we will introduce the Lax equation and describe its connection to the Korteweg-de Vries equation\, as well as establish the Toda lattice in the form of a Lax equation. Time permitting\, we will also discuss several methods for solving the Toda lattice system that use orthogonal polynomials\, QR factorization\, and a Riemann-Hilbert problem.

SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:Orkideh Torabi
DESCRIPTION:Iranian artist Orkideh Torabi’s work is a captivating exploration of the intersection of personal narratives\, cultural heritage\, and societal norms. Through her vibrant and intricate paintings\, Torabi challenges traditional notions of femininity\, power dynamics\, and identity. Her unique artistic style blends elements of Persian miniature painting with contemporary imagery\, blurring the boundaries between the past and the present.\nDrawing inspiration from her Iranian heritage\, Torabi explores themes of cultural identity\, diaspora\, and the tension between tradition and modernity. In her artistic practice\, she embraces the role of a storyteller\, recognizing the integral role that narration plays in her paintings. For her\, the canvas becomes a stage\, and her paintings take on the essence of a captivating play or theatrical scene\, with these characters serving as the ensemble cast\, each playing their distinct role.\nTorabi obtained her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in graphic design and illustration from the University of Art in Tehran and served as a faculty member there before making the decision to relocate to the United States. In pursuit of this goal\, she completed her second MFA degree in 2016 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Presently\, Torabi resides and works in Brooklyn\, New York.\nTorabi’s work has been featured in publications such as the Los Angeles Times\, Juxtapoz\, Hyperallergic\, and Chicago Reader Magazine\, showcased her works through various solo exhibitions and group shows including Nino Mier Gallery in Germany\, Richard Heller in Los Angeles\, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA)\, Chicago Cultural Center\, Nino Mier Gallery in Los Angeles\, Fredericks &amp\; Freiser in New York\, and Spurs Gallery in China\, among others.

SUMMARY:Careers / Jobs:Michigan: Healthcare Moneyball - Associate Job in Healthcare Consulting with IQVIA!
DESCRIPTION:Why Moneyball?\n\nNo worries\, we aren’t looking for candidates with backgrounds in sports\, reading Michael Lewis novels\, or indulging in Brad Pitt movies. In the early 2000s\, the Oakland Athletics baseball team implemented enhanced statistical insights to understand the real value of players\, as opposed to “old-school” approaches that are outdated\, subjective\, and often flawed. Using enhanced insights\, the A’s remained a competitive baseball team despite having limited funds to pay high-value players and managers – their unique approach to better gain insight about players had ushered in an era of new thinking to the game and enhanced insights are now a necessity to “play ball” in every industry.\n\nIn our world of healthcare\, ongoing changes in patient insurance coverage\, continued impacts from COVID-19\, increasing industry consolidation\, and the growth in expensive transformative therapeutics continue to challenge the life sciences landscape. These changes at a macro-level have ripple effects across the country. For example\, the “greying” of the US is leading to approximately 15 M people enrolling in Medicare over the next ten years\, but this impact is likely to increase more so in specific states and geographies. Furthermore\, the growth in high deductibles continue to drive higher costs across the landscape of various treatment options.\n\nAs a result\, we support our clients by developing “Moneyball” like solutions to provide better insights for our clients to adapt to a demanding market. Our team uses the power of healthcare data to help manufacturers measure the impact of market access on brand performance and the cascading influence this has on how prescribers and patients gain access to innovative therapies. We support manufacturers by providing deep insights into the geographic variations of patient\, insurer\, and prescriber behaviorand thereby help manufacturers implement more effective strategies for sales execution\, insurer contracting\, net revenue optimization\, and all varieties of patient assistance programs.\n\nPlease join for a deeper dive into the type of work IQVIA’s Market Access Strategy Consulting team does daily. You will hear from two of our top Principals – Ross Perak and Sayantan Niyogi. Access represents one of the most critical barriers to patients accessing the therapies they need. Health insurers restrict patient access to therapies that carry less value for them\, posing an obvious puzzle for us to solve.

SUMMARY:Exercise / Fitness:Swing Ann Arbor: Mama's Stew Workshop
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: Mama’s Stew is a fast paced choreography from the early 1960s. It was created by the 1955 Harvest Moon Ball champion George Sullivan for the Mama Lou Parks Dancers. The routine goes by several names: some call it “Mama Stew” (without an apostrophe)\, the Parkets themselves referred to it as “Hand Claps”\, and it has (perhaps more accurately) been known as “Sully’s Stew”. This beginner-friendly routine will be taught by Max Okros. It is a great primer for solo jazz and a fantastic way to be a part of the history and culture of swing dance! You can see some of the original Parkets performing this choreography here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tn8n5eSh37IYou can also see how other folks have performed it here: https://youtu.be/T8ChDfbgP18?si=HbThgV8d1HFMeHeRThank you to Paulette Brockington for providing us with the historical background and context of this dance.  INSTRUCTOR: Max Okros  COST: $5 (cash\, check\, or PayPal)  COVID PROTOCOL: You MUST either A) show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to attend indoor\, in-person SAA events OR B) wear a mask during the entire duration of indoor\, in-person SAA events if proof of COVID-19 vaccination cannot be provided.
