The glass masters were trained in schools of art and design and many achieved international fame during their lifetimes. \r\n\r\nThe collectors, Endi Poskovic and his wife Julie Anne Visco, began acquiring the glass in 2015-16 while Endi was a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krak\u00f3w. Scouring flea markets, antique shops, and websites, they continue to acquire pieces and build the collection to this day. In \"My Gender States,\" Pinto shares his deep and abiding grief related to the childhood death of his sister and the subsequent gender embodiments that ensued stemming from the belief that he was his deceased sister. \r\n\r\nUsing autoethnography, Pinto created a one-person play (\"Mar\u00edlia,\" 2015) and site-specific installation performance (\"The Realm of the Dead,\" 2022). These works explore the intersecting and shaping layers of childhood traumas, gender states, and his life experience\u2014a story of the struggles, fears, and accomplishments he experienced as an immigrant to the United States. In \"Realm,\" audiences circulated around 25 assemblage sculptures created from vintage suitcases and trunks that evoked the cemetery where Pinto\u2019s sister was buried and the literal and figurative baggage that he, a queer immigrant, carried with him. \"My Gender States\" is a selection of materials, images, and texts from \"Mar\u00edlia\" and \"Realm\" curated to more closely examine the themes of gender and sexuality in these works. Pinto (Brazilian, American, b. 1965, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) is a University Diversity Social Transformation Professor; Berit Ingersoll-Dayton Collegiate Professor of Social Work; and Professor of Theatre and Drama, School of Music, Theatre & Dance, at the University of Michigan. Candid and relaxed more than posed, they are similar to most people's pictures in old family albums.\r\n\r\nCulled from the Orson Welles-Beatrice Welles materials that are part of the Mavericks & Makers collection within the U-M Library\u2019s Special Collections Research Center, each photo or letter tells a story of a connection Welles held dearly. The materials included are from two periods: the late 1920s and early 1930s, when Welles was a teenager, and the mid-1950s to early 1960s, during the early years of his marriage to his third wife, Paola Mori.\u00a0\r\n\r\nIt should be noted that Welles\u2019s personal life was messy at best. Other collections housed at U-M that include personal materials related to Welles document his first and second marriages, including the\u00a0Welles-Feder Collection\u00a0and the\u00a0Wilson-Welles Collection. Whether designing furniture or developing the ideas for sculpture, the process has always been the same. Ideas begin as\r\nscribbled images that are then stretched and refined with CAD software. At its core, much of the work studies the manipulation of simple geometry. Dunn looks at the form from different forced perspectives \u2013 exploding, augmenting, slicing, repeating, and lighting. This body of work is a study of perception, sympathy, hierarchy, and reality. The \u201cWe Are Virus\u201d series is an adaptation from an initial design where it continued to evolve and adapt through manipulation of parts and scale.\r\n\r\nPeter Dunn received his BFA from Wayne State University and MFA from University of Michigan. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a complex set of policies that have demonstrated positive impact on perinatal health. Unfortunately, conversations to repeal the ACA are ongoing and often do not include the specific needs or contexts of American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) peoples. Because the ACA included several AIAN-specific provisions, there is opportunity for differential impact and ultimately, the potential to reduce health inequities between AIAN and white birth givers. Indigenous birth givers also often hold citizenship in sovereign Nations with whom the US has agreements of fiduciary responsibility. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a complex set of policies that have demonstrated positive impact on perinatal health. Unfortunately, conversations to repeal the ACA are ongoing and often do not include the specific needs or contexts of American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) peoples. Because the ACA included several AIAN-specific provisions, there is opportunity for differential impact and ultimately, the potential to reduce health inequities between AIAN and white birth givers. Free and open to the public.\n\nGUEST BIO \n\nAVA ORDMAN (BM & MM \u201975, trombone) served for 24 years as principal trombone with the Grand Rapids Symphony \u2013 a job she attained at age 19. At age 41, Ordman returned to school to pursue a master\u2019s degree in counseling psychology from Western Michigan University. In 1997, she began her work as a psychologist while subbing with the Detroit Symphony and Detroit Opera orchestras and teaching low brass at Oakland University. In 2002, Ordman was appointed professor of trombone at Michigan State University. She is principal trombone of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music Orchestra, and she performs with the Monarch Brass, the flagship brass ensemble of the International Women\u2019s Brass Conference.\n\nOrdman played her solo debut at Carnegie Hall in 1990 with the American Symphony and has been a featured artist at numerous festivals and conferences. She performed the world premieres of Steven Smith\u2019s Trombone Concerto with the Eugene Symphony and Libby Larsen\u2019s *Mary Cassatt* with the Grand Rapids Symphony; both works were written for Ordman. Ordman\u2019s most recent venture was leading a consortium to commission a new trombone concerto by David Biedenbender; *Their Eyes Are Fireflies* received its world premiere in 2018 with the MSU Wind Symphony. Ordman released a solo CD in 2017, *It\u2019s About Time: Music for Trombone by Women Composers*.
