In them\, Ross explores humor and personal meaning through absurd juxtapositions of pairs of wildly varied images. Each single image is stripped of its original context (be it\, for example\, a history book\, an instruction manual\, or a magazine advertisement)\, placed on a white background like some kind of specimen\, and presented afresh with a new “companion image.” These companion images confront\, contrast and converse with each other\, and thereby build new relationships\, narratives\, jokes\, and contexts.\n\nAndy Ross grew up in Macomb County\, and has been making art in various mediums since the 1970s. Food writers and social historians alike frequently describe this summertime treat as a symbol of Filipino cultural identity for the ways it mixes local and foreign ingredients into a concoction now readily recognized as typically “Pinoy.” But halo-halo is also a product of Philippine ecosystems—that is to say\, it represents an eclectic blend of environmental tales in an ever evolving and highly politicized foodscape. The first of its kind\, Halo-Halo Ecologies brings together a transnational community of food enthusiasts\, engaged scholars\, and social and environmental activists to set the table for a new canon in Philippine and Filipino/Filipinx studies\, and in food studies more broadly. In twelve chapters\, the contributors complicate cultural icons\, like Jollibee Chickenjoy and the sari-sari store\, and bring these into conversation with the scavenging practices of informal settlements in Manila and the agroecological practices of Indigenous Lumad schools. Hinojosa has created log cabin quilts to adorn the columns in front of Stamps Gallery. The log cabin quilts traditionally represent the warm hearth at the center of a home. This installation reflects on the interplay between home\, placemaking\, labor\, and intergenerational memories of migration. Rather than quilting cotton designed to softly embrace the body\, these quilts are sewn from outdoor grade\, UV-resistant polyester. The quilt is an ode to Hinojosa’s grandmother who illegally crossed the US/Mexico border holding her babies and her quilts. As she and her family drove across the United States to work in the fields of the Salinas Valley\, the quilts offered a safe space for her and her family. Hinojosa celebrates their resilience to her grandmother and elders while also drawing attention to precarity and violence experienced by refugees and migrants crossing the US-Mexico border in our present today.\nArtist’s bio:\nMichelle Inez Hinojosa is an artist\, educator\, and researcher whose work is informed by Indigenous and Latine/x/a/o studies. Born and raised in Texas\, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in both drawing and painting and art education with a minor in art history at the University of North Texas. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan. She works with quilting\, bead weaving\, embroidery\, jewelry\, transparent film installations\, painting\, ceramics\, and sculpture to honor and explore the history of migration in her family and humanize the current discourse around migration still occurring at the southern border. Both the network's multiple sensors and the shields large size significantly enhance the expected dark-photon electromagnetic signals\, and long-baseline measurements confidently reduce many local noise sources. Using this network\, we constrain the kinetic mixing coefficient of dark photon dark matter over the mass range 4.1 feV-2.1 peV\, which represents the most stringent constraints derived from any terrestrial experiments operating over the aforementioned mass range. In this talk\, we explore a PDE model of evolutionary game theory with environmental feedback\, describing how the spatial distribution of resource extraction strategies and environmental resources evolve due to reaction terms describing eco-evolutionary game-theoretic dynamics and spatial terms describing diffusion of environmental resources and directed motion of resource harvesters towards regions of greater environmental quality. Through linear stability\, we show that this biased motion towards higher-quality environments can lead to spatial patterns in the distribution of extraction strategies\, creating local regions with improved environmental quality and increase payoff for resource extractors. However\, by measuring the average payoff and environmental quality across the spatial domain\, we see that this pattern-forming mechanism can actually decrease the overall success of the population relative to the equilibrium outcome in the absence of spatial motion. This suggests that environmental-driven motion can produce a spatial social dilemma\, in which biased motion towards more beneficial regions can produce emergent patterns featuring a worse overall environment for the population. In existing literature\, strategies of players are typically assigned scalar values\, and the concept of Nash equilibrium is used to identify compatible strategies. However\, this approach lacks the internal structure of a player\, thereby failing to accurately model observed behaviors in reality. To address this limitation\, we propose to characterize players by their learning algorithms\, and as their estimations intrinsically induce a distribution over strategies\, we introduced the notion of equilibrium in terms of characterizing the recurrent behaviors of the learning algorithms. This approach allows for a more nuanced understanding of players\, and brings the focus to the challenge of learning that players face. While our explorations in discrete games\, mean-field games\, and reinforcement learning demonstrate the framework's broad applicability\, they also set the stage for future research aimed at specific applications. Thurnau Associate Professor and Associate Department Chair for Research\n\nBranko Kerkez is an Arthur F. Thurnau associate professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at U-M. Branko is driven by the desire to both rationalize water management decisions\, and put tools into the hands of community members to allow them to contribute to those decisions. His artwork from the past 10-15 years to current works will be showcased.\n\nRyan Singer is a Diné (Navajo) artist-painter based in Albuquerque\, NM. His artwork draws from his Navajo heritage and incorporates pop culture elements\, including science fiction imagery. Ryan weaves stories from his childhood memories with nostalgic iconography. Although he is associated with the \"Indigenous Futurism\" movement\, he has been drawing Star Wars characters since 1977. He enjoys creating portrait realism of Native subjects with a contemporary appeal\, and his artwork is included in several museum and private collections worldwide. Ryan has received numerous awards from the renowned SWAIA's Santa Fe Indian Market. He earned his BFA in Art Studio from the University of New Mexico\, where he participated in a collaborative lithography class with the Tamarind Institute. He is working on his MFA in Painting & Drawing at the University of New Mexico.\n\nBorn in Cedar City\, Utah\, but originally from Tuba City\, Arizona\, Ryan is of the Tódich’iinii (Bitter Water) clan and born for the Kinya’aani (Towering House) clan. Growing up in various parts of the Navajo Reservation\, Ryan often reflects on his childhood through his depictions of science fiction and pop culture icons. Other notable works include the popular \"Mutton Stew\" painting\, modeled after Andy Warhol's \"Campbell's Tomato Soup Can\" series with a Navajo twist\, and the iconic \"Wagon Burner\,\" which has become his trademark symbol.
