Among his many numerous awards and grants, he has been one of twelve international artists selected to participate in The 31st annual International Symposium of Contemporary Art in Baie \u2013 Saint Paul, Quebec; a year-long artist in Residence at the Roswell artist-in-Residency in Roswell, New Mexico; and a featured artist at the 2020 Spring Break Art Show, in New York, New York. He has had solo shows with My Pet Ram and Gitler & in NYC, and most recently has been featured and won an award at The 2025 Regional Show at the Dennos Museum and Cultural Center. He has works in numerous public collections including the Waterton - Global corporate collection, the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Museum of Modern Art in Baei St Paul. His work has been collected privately both nationally and internationally. Currently, he teaches and lives outside of Traverse City at Interlochen Arts Academy, nestled among the trees, rivers, and lakes of northern Michigan.Katie Mongoven\/\u4e0a\u79cb\u83b2 is a Chinese American fiber artist from Washington, DC, based in Detroit, MI. Her work investigates and fortifies the space between cultural dichotomies through multiple fiber processes. She received her BFA from the University of Michigan and MFA in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art, with the Surface Design Association\u2019s Outstanding Student Award. She was a Roman J. Witt Visiting Artist at the University of Michigan, a Windgate University Fellow at Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, and the 2024 Barstow Artist-in-Residence at Central Michigan University. Other residencies attended include the California Institute of the Arts, the University of Michigan, Vermont Studio Center, and forthcoming Stove Works (TN) in 2025. Solo and group exhibitions include Central Michigan University (MI), Playground Detroit (MI), Riffe Gallery (OH), and ROY G BIV Gallery (OH). She has public and corporate commissions at the Cranbrook Art Museum, PayTile, and Cross River Bank. Her work is held in public collections at Central Michigan University, Summa Health, and MetroHealth, and in numerous private collections throughout the United States.Sara Nickleson is an artist, curator, and gallery director based in Detroit, Michigan. She held the position of Senior Director at Library Street Collective gallery from 2016 to 2022. Prior to moving to Detroit, Nickleson was the Head Curator and Director of Collections at the Design Exchange (DX) in Toronto, Canada, where she curated a number of internationally acclaimed exhibitions, including This is Not a Toy, The Politics of Fashion, and 3DXL. Nickleson has written for a number of arts publications, including exhibition catalogs (Jos\u00e9 Parl\u00e1: Polarities; This is Not a Toy; Coping Mechanisms, Sam Durant: Iconoclasm) and artist monographs (Sam Friedman, Tyrrell Winston). She has been a visiting curator and critic, and was invited by the British Council to take part in their Design Connections symposium as part of London Design Week in 2015. Exhibitions of her artwork include a solo show at Louis Buhl & Co. (Detroit) as well as a number of group presentations. Choices about which artists you see in our galleries, choices about what relevant facts we share about the works, and choices about what - out of an infinite number of options - we don\u2019t say about them.\n \nPieces in this exhibition were made at a time when the world came to be shaped by the ideologies of colonial expansion and Western domination. And yet, that history and the stories of those marginalized do not readily appear in the still lives and portraits on display here. By grappling with what is visible and what remains hidden, we are forced to examine whose stories and histories are prioritized and why.\u00a0\u00a0\n \nIn this online exhibition, you can explore our efforts to deeply question the Museum\u2019s collection and our own past complicity in favoring colonial voices. She is the director and CEO of the Grand Rapids Art Museum, an institution committed to being people centered by strategically placing people at the center of all decision making. \nFoley curated a number of exhibitions including Playground, 2002 which launched a groundbreaking project, Learning to Love you More. Foley is committed to the role museums play in developing creative thinkers. She has been on the faculty of the Maine College of Art and Harvard\u2019s Project Zero Classroom Summer Institute, and regularly keynotes a variety of Museum, Art, and Education Conferences. Foley has given two TEDX Talks including Teaching Art or Teaching to Think like an Artist. Foley received the 2018 Ohio Distinguished Educator for Art Education award. She was appointed to the Michigan Arts and Culture Council in 2023. \nKatie Grace McGowan (she\/they) is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural producer, and committed advocate for creative workers. Her art practice straddles performance art and literary art\u2013autofiction and experimental poetry, in particular. His research focuses on understanding how species and ecosystems respond to the rampant loss of biodiversity, climate change, and the spread of invasive species. He has 15+ years of active research focused on mutualisms loss, the loss of native species and the gain of invasive species, global warming and the impacts of habitat fragmentation on the diversity and structure of communities, and ecosystem processes.\r\n\r\nRodriguez-Cabal uses observational, experimental, meta-analytical, and theoretical approaches with the aim of understanding the indirect impacts of global change on biodiversity. Mariano has published 50 peer-reviewed articles on different questions and systems from slugs in British Columbia and ants in North Carolina to endemic marsupials and birds in Patagonia. He is a two-time winner of a Fulbright Scholarship.\r\n\r\nHis Ph.D. is from the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee. Rodriguez-Cabal earned his master of science from the University of Florida\u2019s Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. His Licentiate in Biological Science is from the Universidad Nacional del Comahue-Centro Regional Universitario Bariloche, in Patagonia, Argentina.\r\n\r\nThe U-M Biological Station \u2014 the largest of U-M's campuses at more than 10,000 forested acres surrounded by lakes \u2014 is one of the nation's largest and longest continuously operating field research stations.\r\n\r\nFounded in 1909, the Biological Station supports long-term research and education.
