Psychology Methods Hour | When and why AI outperforms trained coders in essay coding

In many college teaching and research contexts, assessment involved coding of short essays based on a coding rubric. In this talk I argue that AI outperforms human coders when the coding is analytic and not holistic and illustrate this using essays written by college students as part of critical thinking assessment.
