DESCRIPTION:You have valuable skills and abilities\, and you may also have a disability. During your job or internship search and once you are onthe job\, you want employers and colleagues to recognize your talents andfocus on what you can do. Self-advocacy is an important part of the worldof work\, and deciding whether and how to disclose a disability or request reasonable accommodations can be part of that process.In this interactive workshop\, you will learn strategies for discussing disability and requesting workplace accommodations. You will also have an opportunity to develop and practice a disclosure or accommodation-request script with peers\, helping you build confidence and strengthen your self-advocacy skills.This workshop is intentionally offered in October in recognitionof National Disability Employment Awareness Month.Brought to you by Student Accessibility and Accommodation Services (SAAS) and the University Career Center (UCC). This event's information is shown in Handshake as well as on the Happening @ Michigan calendar so that it will be seen by a larger number of U-M Students.
