SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:Dancing with the Dragon Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Experience a curated experience of the imaginary\, featuring a lightly sci-fi\, magnificent work of art--the LRCCS Fortune and Longevity Dragon\, a 25-ft long\, Asian-inspired full-body dragon sculpture for use in the traditional \"dragon dance\"  crafted by renowned international artist Zhen Guo with U-M faculty arts lecturer Raymond Wetzel\, artist Jeri Rosenberg\, students\,  and volunteers   The exhibition highlights the story of the dragon's fabrication and its impact on community..  An iconic symbol of inclusivity\, strength\, and courage\, this newly imagined U-M dragon\, with its futuristic flair\, technological creativity and sustainable materials\, invites students and the entire community to re-envision a classic cultural symbol for contemporary times.\n\nPresented by the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies. This project was made possible by grants from the University of Michigan Arts Initiative and the Office of the Provost\, Global Engagement.
