DESCRIPTION:Join the Women's and Gender Studies Department for a talk by CNM Jessica Tsipe Angelson!\n\nOpen to all\, but especially for students of Gender and Health\, Professor Angelson will be discussing survivors' experiences of severe maternal morbidity. \n\nThis event is being held in Room 2239 Lane Hall\, and there is an option for attendance by Zoom (https://umich.zoom.us/j/98461041635). \n\n*Jessica Tsipe Angelson is an Assistant Professor of Midwifery and Women’s Health at Thomas Jefferson University\, where she is leading the reimagining of the only Doctor of Midwifery program in the country. Her current research focuses on the observed increase in severe maternal morbidity (SMM) in the United States and on clinical guideline development for survivors of SMM. Her broader interests include maternal health systems and midwifery workforce development\, systems to support physiologic birth\, global trends in cesarean birth\, and reproductive justice. She has been a midwife since 2014\, working in hospitals\, homes\, and a freestanding birth center.*
