Clinical Science Brown Bag: Examining non-heritable effects of parenting and community violence on children’s social goals
Isaiah Sypher, Graduate Student, Clinical Science
Abstract:
Research has suggested that social goals constitute an important component in pathways to aggression. However, relatively little is known about how specific experiences of adversity influence specific elements of goal construction. The aim of this study is to examine how non-genetically mediated differences in parenting and community violence exposure affect children’s social goals. This study uses data from over 400 Monozygotic twins living in Michigan. Preliminary results and conclusions will be presented.
