King Lear

NT Live Series

King Lear [Director: Michael Grandage, In association with the Donmar Warehouse]: An aging monarch. A kingdom divided. A child's love rejected. As Lear's world descends into chaos, all that he once believed is brought into question. One of the greatest works in western literature, King Lear explores the very nature of human existence: love and duty, power and loss, good and evil. Derek Jacobi performs the role of King Lear. Sets, lighting, and sounds are designed by the Tony Award-Winning team behind the company's recent Broadway smash hit about the painter Mark Rothko, Red.

NT Live Series: UMS and the Michigan Theater join forces again to bring high-definition screenings of live theater broadcasts by the National Theater, London. NT Live broadcasts plays produced by the National Theater in London onto cinema screens worldwide. In the US, these "live" screenings are delayed to accommodate the time difference. Broadcasts will feature behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the actors.
