University of Michigan Bicentennial Celebration; The University’s Future: confronting the climate crisis.

A week-long celebration of the University's bicentennial aimed at confronting future problems with the climate crisis. Activities include: keynote address by Bill McKibben, a science cafe on current scientific research that addresses the human forces of climate change; Saturday morning physics discussion with the community about the science behind climate change; a political panel bringing together student groups and those who have successfully advocated for divestment of fossil fuels; an art installation where we communicate climate change issues through art led by activist/scientist/writer Sandra Steingraber; and an informal poetry slam.
