Student Representation Theory Seminar

Link Invariants via Quantum sl2 Representations

The purpose of this talk is to discuss the Kauffmann bracket and Jones polynomial from the viewpoint of representation theory. We will see that this is done as a special case of the more general construction of tangle invariants via certain Hopf algebras. A complete exposition of this material (and much more!) can be found in Tomotada Ohtsuki's excellent book "Quantum Invariants" and the references therein. Speaker(s): Bradley Zykoski (University of Michigan)
