This session is exclusively for LSA Staff
This self-defense workshop takes a holistic approach to self-defense, emphasizing awareness and assertiveness skills as well as physical and verbal strategies to counter violence. The goal is to leave you better equipped to deal with everything from harassment to potentially violent people to sexual assault. You will be armed with options to physically defend yourself in the event that unforeseen, dangerous circumstances arise.
This is not a martial arts course and all LSA Staff are welcome to attend, no matter your fitness level or experience with self-defense skills. Attendees should wear comfortable workout clothing and gym shoes. We recommend bringing a water bottle. Water to fill up your bottle will be available at the session.
Trainer: Candace Dorsey, Empowerment Self-Defense Program Manager, U-M Division of Public Safety and Security
Sponsor: The LSA Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
