Forcing and dissipation of internal waves

Stratification of the density in an incompressible fluid is responsible for the propagation of
internal waves. In domains with topography, the interaction of these waves with the boundary
produces a cascade towards small wavelengths. Although the equations are linear, this phenomenology is reminiscent from turbulence. Speaker(s): Laure Saint Raymond (ENS Lyon, France)
