Benjamin Grosvenor, piano

Benjamin Grosvenor Benjamin Grosvenor
Benjamin Grosvenor
Benjamin Grosvenor makes his UMS debut — two years after it was originally scheduled and then postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Grosvenor first came to prominence as the winner of the Keyboard Final of the 2004 BBC Young Musician Competition when he was just 11. No longer a prodigy at age 29, he leaves ecstatic audiences in his wake wherever he performs, with playing reminiscent of legendary pianists that are long gone — Rachmaninoff, Schnabel, Rubinstein, and Serkin. His electrifying performances, “confounding maturity” (Le Figaro), dazzling sound, and insightful interpretations are on display through both his virtuosic command over the most arduous technical complexities and the remarkable depth and understanding of his music making. “Mr. Grosvenor makes you sigh with joy.” (New York Times)
