SUMMARY:Performance:Appalachian Roadshow
DESCRIPTION:Ambassadors of Appalachian culture\n\nAppalachian Road Show is a visionary acoustic ensemble\, bringing new-generation interpretations of traditional Americana\, bluegrass and folk songs\, as well as offering innovative original music\, all presented with a common thread tied directly to the heart of the Appalachian regions of the United States. Grammy-nominated banjoist Barry Abernathy joins forces with Grammy-winning fiddler Jim VanCleve\, fresh off of his recent stint touring with multi-platinum country artist Josh Turner\, as well as esteemed vocalist and mandolinist Darrell Webb\, who has recorded and toured with Dolly Parton and Rhonda Vincent\, among many others. The group also includes 26-year-old “old soul” guitarist Zeb Snyder\, whose fierce and versatile playing recalls Doc Watson and Norman Blake as readily as it does Duane Allman and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

SUMMARY:Performance:Dar Williams
DESCRIPTION:New music!\n\n“It’s a highway\, filled with deep\, exotic colors and beautiful delicate things as well as the perils that come from moving so fast\,” says Dar Williams\, describing modern life. On her 13th album\, Hummingbird Highway\, out September 12 on Righteous Babe Records\, Williams celebrates the colors she glimpses from her vantage as a touring musician. “I was a kid from the suburbs who listened when her hippie teachers said to get out in the world\,” Williams muses. Hummingbird Highway is the latest chapter in a richly unfolding story. Drawing on her experience as a playwright\, Williams populates her latest album with nuanced characters that come alive in the space of a few minutes.

SUMMARY:Performance:BeauSoleil
DESCRIPTION:Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!\n\nFor the past 50 years\, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet has been making some of the most potent and popular Cajun music on the planet. Born out of the rich Acadian ancestry of its members\, and created and driven by bandleader Michael Doucet’s spellbinding fiddle playing and soulful vocals\, BeauSoleil is notorious for bringing even the most staid audience to its feet. BeauSoleil’s distinctive sound derives from the distilled spirits of New Orleans jazz\, blues rock\, folk\, swamp pop\, Zydeco\, country and bluegrass\, captivating listeners from the Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans\, to Carnegie Hall\, then all the way across the pond to Richard Thompson’s Meltdown Festival in England.\n\nTheir most recent album was titled “From Bamako to Carencro\,” alluding the cultural and migratory connection between Bamako\, in Mali\, West Africa\, and Louisiana (symbolized in name by the Lafayette\, LA suburb of Carencro)\, a connection that draws a sonic bloodline back to BeauSoleil’s roots. Since becoming the first Cajun band to win a GRAMMY with “L’amour Ou La Folie” (their Traditional Folk Album – 1998) and then a second Grammy in 2010\, “Live at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival”\, BeauSoleil has garnered many accolades\, including twelve GRAMMY nominations. They are regular guests on Garrison Keillor’s NPR show A Prairie Home Companion\, where Keillor has dubbed them as “the best Cajun band in the world\,” and their music is so integral to the Cajun culture that they have been featured on the New Orleans–based hit HBO program “Treme”. Critics unanimously agree that it is “bon temps\, every time they play\,” (New York Times).

SUMMARY:Performance:Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore
DESCRIPTION:An electroacoustic soundscape\n\nJulianna Barwich and Mary Lattimore are longtime friends\, tourmates\, and two of contemporary ambient and experimental music's most celebrated composers. Synthesizing their respective crafts within the walls of Philharmonie de Paris after being given access to the extraordinary instrument collection of the Musée de la Musique in partnership with the French label InFiné\, their new single\, “Perpetual Adoration\,” blends historical harps\, celestial synths\, and Barwick’s singular voice into an immersive electroacoustic soundscape of memory\, spirituality\, and timeless resonance. It is the first piece of new music from the duo since “Canyon Lights\,” a single released as part of 2021’s Adult Swim compilation\, Digitalis.\n\nTogether in improvised dialogue\, voice and instrument — Lattimore selecting an Érard double movement harp (France\, 1873) and Barwick behind a Sequential Circuits PROPHET-5 analog synthesizer (USA\, circa 1975) — the duo channels an immense volume of emotion drawn from a visit to Basilica of Sacré Cœur de Montmartre. On a rainy night\, they saw a sign outside the cathedral labeled \"ADORATION PERPÉTUELLE\" and entered the reverberant space where a nun was singing above organ drones during Sunday Mass. They carried the powerful scene with them into a session. The resulting performance honors both the moment and the history within their instruments: the gilded\, ornate Érard harp\, the first modern pedal harp\, remains open for innovation\, still carrying the simplest\, universally beautiful tone of human fingers on strings. The PROPHET-5 has shaped several decades of exploratory music\, and Barwick continues this legacy. Her skyward synth and vocal lines ascend alongside Lattimore's tender harp strums\, creating a meditation on the restorative power of shared experience.

SUMMARY:Performance:Larry McCray
DESCRIPTION:Legendary rustbelt blues shouter and guitar slinger\n\nLarry McCray is a powerhouse bluesman with a soul-soaked voice\, blistering guitar chops\, and a story embodying the spirit of his music. With his new album Heartbreak City\, McCray turns the page on a new chapter—raw\, joyful\, and deeply personal. Produced by blues-rock champions and Grammy Nominated duo Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith\, Heartbreak City finds the legendary singer and guitarist firing on all cylinders\, reconnecting with his roots while stepping boldly forward.\n\nFrom the first notes of the title track\, McCray reminds listeners why he’s long been hailed as one of the most expressive blues artists of his generation. Heartbreak City showcases Larry’s gritty vocals and searing guitar work\, evoking the decades he spent grinding it out in clubs\, pouring heartache and redemption into every solo. Elsewhere\, standout single “Bye Bye Blues” draws on McCray’s teenage years in Michigan\, when soul music still ruled the airwaves. Co-written with longtime collaborator Charlie Walmsley\, it nods to giants like Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Bland while delivering a sound all his own—grooving\, head-nodding\, and utterly timeless.\n\nThe release follows 2022’s Blues Without You\, which marked McCray’s long-awaited return after a seven-year hiatus. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Blues chart and was named the #1 Blues Album of 2022 by Blues Rock Review\, solidifying his status as a torchbearer of modern blues. In 2024\, McCray was inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame\, a testament to his deep roots in the state and his enduring impact on American music. Now\, Heartbreak City builds on that momentum. It’s a record that reflects Larry McCray at his most self-assured -grounded in tradition\, but more fearless than ever.\n\nBorn in 1960 in Smackover\, Arkansas\, McCray grew up steeped in gospel\, soul\, and the electric blues of the three Kings—B.B.\, Albert\, and Freddie. He moved to Saginaw\, Michigan at 12\, where he honed his guitar style by blending classic blues with the psychedelic edge of Hendrix and the southern fire of the Allman Brothers. After years of gigging while working a factory job\, he was signed in the late ’80s as the first artist on Virgin Records’ blues imprint Point Blank. His debut Ambition (1990) was followed by acclaimed albums like Delta Hurricane\, Meet Me at the Lake\, and Born to Play the Blues\, solidifying his role in defining modern blues-rock through the ’90s and early 2000s.\n\nOver the years\, McCray has played alongside a who’s who of music legends —B.B. King\, Buddy Guy\, Albert King\, the Allman Brothers\, Joe Walsh\, Jonny Lang\, Levon Helm\, and of course\, Joe Bonamassa. He was named Orville H. Gibson Male Blues Guitarist of the Year in 2000 and won the Top Guitarist prize in the International Blues Matters writer’s poll in 2014.\n\nBut accolades aside\, it’s the soul in McCray’s music that keeps fans coming back. “I feel totally reborn\,” he says. “This new album lets me show the full scope of what I do —it’s blues\, it’s soul\, it’s real stories. This is who I am.”

SUMMARY:Performance:Ryan Montbleau
DESCRIPTION:Poetic Americana\n\nA relentless road warrior and masterful wordsmith\, Ryan Montbleau has spent the better part of thirty years cultivating a devoted audience on the strength of his ecstatic live shows and exhilarating sonic versatility. He’s collaborated with artists as diverse as Trombone Shorty\, Galactic\, Steel Pulse\, Tall Heights\, Martin Sexton\, Anders Osborne\, and George Porter\, Jr\; shared bills with the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Ani DiFranco\, Todd Snider\, The Wood Brothers\, Rodrigo y Gabriela\, and Mavis Staples\; and racked up more than 150 million streams on Spotify alone. NPR’s Mountain Stage compared his “eloquent\, soulful songwriting” to Bill Withers and James Taylor\, while Relix celebrated his “poetic Americana\,” and The Boston Herald raved that “he’s made a career of confident\, danceable positivity.”\n\nMontbleau’s freewheeling new album finds him exploring the full spectrum of his influences like never before\, touching on folk\, rock\, funk\, soul\, hip-hop\, and reggae\, all with a preternatural ease that belies the intensely focused craftsmanship behind it. The songs are sprawling and unpredictable\, grappling with a modern world perpetually teetering on the edge of chaos\, but the performances are relentlessly optimistic\, insisting on hope and joy in the face of it all. The result is Montbleau’s most vulnerable and cathartic work yet\, an album that acknowledges the inevitability of doubt and pain while at the same time celebrating our limitless capacity for growth and love.

SUMMARY:Performance:Alden J. “Butch” Carpenter Scholarship Gala (BLSA)
DESCRIPTION:The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) at the University of Michigan Law School cordially invites you to join them at the 2026 Butch Carpenter Memorial Scholarship Gala.\n\nWe hold this annual event in memory of Alden J. “Butch” Carpenter\, a former University of Michigan Law School student. In 1977\, Carpenter entered law school to advocate for disinvested communities through his business and lawyering skills. Sadly\, Carpenter passed away during the winter semester of his first year of law school and did not get the chance to realize his dreams. On February 21st\, 1978\, only a few weeks after Carpenter’s untimely passing\, the BLSA membership voted unanimously to honor his memory by establishing the Alden J. “Butch” Carpenter Memorial Scholarship Fund. Paying homage to Carpenter’s lifework\, each year the fund awards scholarships to outstanding first-year BLSA members who are interested in business law and have demonstrated a commitment to community development.

SUMMARY:Performance:Chicago Farmer & The Fieldnotes
DESCRIPTION:“Imagine if a John Steinbeck short story had been written as a song\, and this will give you a fairly good idea as to what Chicago Farmer accomplishes on his albums.” –Honest Tune\n\nThe son of a small town farming community\, Cody Diekhoff logged plenty of highway and stage time under the name Chicago Farmer before settling in the city in 2003. Profoundly inspired by fellow midwesterner John Prine\, he’s a working-class folk musician to his core. His small town roots\, tilled with city streets mentality\, are turning heads North and South of I-80.\n“I love the energy\, music\, and creativity of Chicago\, but at the same time\, the roots and hard work of my small town\,” he shares. Growing up in Delavan\, Illinois\, with a population less than 2\,000\, Diekhoff’s grandparents were farmers\, and their values have always provided the baseline of his songs. \n\nHe writes music for “the kind of people that come to my shows. Whether in Chicago or Delavan\, everyone has a story\, and everyone puts in a long day and works hard the same way\,” he says. “My generation may have been labeled as slackers\, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t work hard - many people I know put in 50-60 hours a week and 12 hour days. That’s what keeps me playing. I don’t like anyone to be left out\; my music is for everyone in big and very small towns.”\n\nHe listened to punk rock and grunge as a kid before discovering a friend’s dad playing Hank Williams\, and it was a revelation. Prine and Guthrie quickly followed. The name Chicago Farmer was originally for a band\, but the utilitarian life of driving alone from bar to bar\, city to city - to make a direct connection to his audience and listener\, took a deeper hold.

SUMMARY:Performance:Eliza McLamb
DESCRIPTION:Good Story Tour\n\nIt appears to be a trophy at first. Look closer\, and you’ll see the cover of Good Story features Eliza McLamb holding a makeshift award\, hot-glued together from scraps she and her mother salvaged. It is\, of course\, silver — a self-deprecating wink introducing the timbre of McLamb’s sophomore album. These last few years\, McLamb’s been parsing her upbringing\, the songs she wrote about it\, and the whole endeavor of the stories we tell about ourselves. “If you get really good at telling the story of who you are\, you become the story you told instead of the ever-dynamic\, ever-changing person you have to be\,” McLamb says. “I did really well telling the story of who I am\, but I began asking: What’s the point of it?” \n\nAt only 23\, McLamb has already lived multiple lives. In her late teens\, McLamb found success via co-hosting the podcast Binchtopia and sharing songs on TikTok. She soon pulled back from the platform\, feeling it didn’t represent her actual ethos as a songwriter. Instead\, she signed to Royal Mountain and released her 2024 debut Going Through It\, a document of a complex\, traumatic childhood that led to searching phases — dropping out of college during the pandemic in favor of working on Midwest farms\, eventually leaving her North Carolina hometown behind for Los Angeles. It all gave her plenty of stories to tell on Going Through It. And now on Good Story\, she wonders how that process affected her. Yet the homemade trophy of Good Story’s cover is far from a jocular consolation prize alone. It’s a symbol of the layered\, accomplished writing McLamb arrived at as she interrogated everything she thought she was about as an artist.

SUMMARY:Performance:Rabbitology
DESCRIPTION:A little land of the harebrained and burrowing - Venture into these eclectic soundscapes\, and here you will discover a collection of memoirs turned into fantastical sonic short stories.\n\nEveryone has their own world. Fragments of moments lived\, translated and understood through metaphor and storytelling. Rabbitology is the project of (University of Michigan student) Nat Timmerman—a world that was pulled from her odd-running mind. \n\nStrange but charming\, you’ll find these songs bundled in capes of star-dusted moss\, grounded in the natural world\, propelled by the raw and the real. If a song takes place in the woods\, then the woods the song will become\; the percussion is the stomping of the leaves\, the synth is a warped fox’s cry. Thus arise the stories of dread-grey skies\, writhing vines\, and shivering pines—stories of a magically real folk horror. The dark and ugly become beautiful here\, and vice versa. In this world\, there is no such thing as “black or white\,” instead\, everything exists together at once.\n\nThis world is for the souls who never quite fit in\, who found themselves like ghosts\, drifting between realms\, never finding anywhere to settle. Simply follow the three-legged rabbit prints until you’re knee deep in this world’s tall grass. Here\, you’re invited to rest\, to dance\, to create\, to ideate\, even if your visit is only for a little while. Stay as long as you like. Make this world your home too. It’s a little unusual in here\, but that’s life!

SUMMARY:Performance:Joy Clark & Kate Peterson
DESCRIPTION:Authentic\, soulful folk from two dynamic songwriters\n\nJoy Clark’s songcraft\, paired with sophisticated progressions\, and themes of freedom\, love and self-acceptance gained her notice on the national folk and Americana scenes just a few years ago with appearances at Americanafest. She caught the attention of Grammy-winner Allison Russell and was offered a regular spot in her backing band The Rainbow Coalition\, earning her the chance to jam with superstars Brandi Carlile and the Indigo Girls. Talking to The Tennessean\, Russell described Joy as a “a brilliant artist\, writer and singer.”\n\nLansing’s homegrown friend and folksinger describes herself as “raspy\, emo acoustic soul-folk with a touch of optimism and a lot of humanness.”\n\nBeginning in 2005\, Michigan-based singer songmaker and multi-instrumentalist Kate Peterson has traveled the US and Europe winning the hearts of vulnerability lovers everywhere. For 10 years\, she spilled her heart onto hundreds of stages\, opened for her heroes and sparked thousands of laughs (and almost as many tears) with her folk duo\, Nervous but Excited. These days\, in between adventure travel\, Kate is a home-makin’ hobbyist who swaps her wood-working tools for a microphone for only the most special of occasions.\n\nThe roots of her music are still planted firmly in the Pleasantly Aggressive Folk sound that long time fans will find familiar\, but they will quickly notice a depth in her sound that only time and patience can cultivate.

SUMMARY:Performance:Le Vent Du Nord
DESCRIPTION:Once again\, Le Vent du Nord rises to the occasion with a new concert directed by Michel Faubert\nStill inspired by its international “20 Printemps” tour (200\,000 tickets sold\, awarded “Best Traditional Album of the year” with FELIX 2022\, OPUS 2023 & Songlines Music Awards 2023 - Americas)\, the legendary Quebec quintet of singers and multi-instrumentalists is always on the move\, committed to the present. \n\nWith the release of their 13th album\, they tackle the theme of neighborhoods\, sources of universal inspiration. \n\nHe opens his door to good neighbors.\nHe hopes that ideas of sharing will flourish\, and the best for the common good.\n\nFrom those who are musical and enrich their repertoire: Irish and Scottish Celts\, American folk\, songs from Acadia and French-speaking America. \n\nFrom those with their neighbors\, the rivers\, to those that bear witness to history: battles won or lost\, abuses\, losses\, friendships and\, above all\, loves.\n\nFive voices in harmony\, podorythmy\, hurdy-gurdy\, bouzouki\, bombarde québé-coise and tunes of violin and accordion tell us that traditional music from here is rich\, lively and inventive. \n\nIt's a show where you can let yourself dance\, be moved by the words spoken orally\, and recharge your batteries with the energy of these eternal travellers with deep-rooted roots. \n\nAn invitation to discover a world of humanities!

Still living and working on the family farm\, Billy has continued writing and recording\, and\, with his brother\, started Holler Fest\, a three-day music festival featuring Michigan artists.\n\nBilly’s versatility as a multi-genre singer-songwriter is matched by his ability on a wide range of instruments from guitar and banjo to keyboards and accordion. \n\nWithin the songwriting community\, he is well-known for his musicianship and originality. Sometimes catchy folk/rock\, sometimes searing blues\, but always direct and thoughtful lyrics - this is original music from an original life\, fully accomplished yet humble\, and most of all real.

SUMMARY:Performance:Penny and Sparrow
DESCRIPTION:A wise wizard once said: “when in doubt\, always follow your nose.” \n\nThe last album from Penny and Sparrow\, Olly Olly\, was a work of revelation and liberation. A search for and an embrace of the self. I imagine they were left with a headscratcher of a question: well\, shit. Where do you go from there?\n\nFortunately\, they listened to the wizard and followed their noses backwards to find their way forward. \n\nAiming to strip away pretense and invite experimentation\, they commandeered a garden shed from a friend and retrofitted it to make a twenty-track album that is vast\, weird\, and wholly unexpected. \n\nIf Lefty is anything\, it is the journal of Penny and Sparrow’s inner child. Dog-eared\, lock busted open. On its pages the sketches of dreams\, nightmares\, erotica\, and literary fan fiction graffiti the margins of poetry\, elegies\, and love letters in the wild colors of saxophone blue\, electronic pink\, and blood harmony red. \n\nBeautifully varied and richly rendered\, it is an album that wanders from theme to theme\, style to style\, exultation to tragedy. Yet it is never lost. If anything\, it is at play. \n\nUnited by its intimate vocals and aching harmonies\, its acoustic laments trickle into ethereal pop only to surge into whimsical ballads and crest into grand hooligan anthems that sway gently down to familiar shores where melancholic ballads tell of love lost\, found\, forgotten\, and remembered. \n\nAndy and Kyle have written some albums in blood. Others they’ve whispered to the sea. This one they danced in the sky with smiles on their faces. Lefty feels like not just a celebration of their journey beyond the bounds of their traditional genre\, but as if they have rediscovered the joy in music by honoring the sounds that inspired two boys growing up in Texas to one day make the damn stuff themselves.\n\n–Pierce Brown\, author and friend\n\n\nVIP includes:\n \nOne general admission ticket\nEarly entry into the venue\nAccess to an intimate pre-show soundcheck party (2-3 songs)\nQ&A with Penny & Sparrow\nLimited edition tour poster\; autographed by Penny & Sparrow\nCrowd Free Merchandise Shopping\nLimited availability\n \nEarly Entry includes:\n\nOne general admission ticket\nEarly entry into the venue\nLimited edition tour poster\; autographed by Penny & Sparrow\nCrowd Free Merchandise Shopping\nLimited availability

SUMMARY:Performance:John Gorka
DESCRIPTION:“Gorka is widely heralded for the sophisticated intelligence and provocative originality of his songs.” –The Boston Globe\n\nJohn Gorka is one of the most well-loved singer/songwriters in the folk community. With a career spanning 40 years and a discography of 17 solo releases\, he embodies the best of folk music with his eclectic blend of folk\, blues and bluegrass influences\, insightful lyrics and engaging delivery. John’s career was launched in the mid-80s when he won the prestigious New Folk award at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1984. \n\nSeveral years later he signed to Red House records for the release of his debut album I Know. He migrated to Windham Hill/High Street for his subsequent three releases\, earning extensive critical acclaim from a variety of publications including Rolling Stone which dubbed him the preeminent male singer-songwriter of the New Folk Movement. He returned to Red House in 1998 and has since released a string of albums that have achieved folk chart-topping success.\n\nHailing from New Jersey\, but forged in the Greenwich Village Fast Folk scene\, John has honed his craft and persona into an unmistakable image. The shy\, wry\, insightful\, and yes\, sensitive singer-songwriter has been copied and parodied. But the old coat he wove still fits\, and still suits him well. The old songs ring as true as they ever did\, and the new ones are just as good.

SUMMARY:Performance:12 Angry Jurors
DESCRIPTION:A 19-year-old stands trial for the fatal stabbing of his father\, and the jury is asked for a verdict. It looks like an open-and-shut case—until one of the jurors begins questioning the facts. SUMMARY:Performance:Willy Porter
DESCRIPTION:Dazzling finger-style guitar and rich\, compelling songwriting\n\nSome folks are lucky to find what they love to do at an early age and quietly settle in for the long haul expanding and developing their work over the arc of a lifetime. Willy Porter is one of those artists. He has followed his own path to explore the sacred language that music truly is. Thirty years after his solo recording debut\, he continues to reach further into his guitar & pen while stretching the form of what his own music can be. His live shows are guitar driven events—equal parts grit\, soul\, and muscle—that are electrifying\, dynamic\, and wholly original in the way that his voice blends and fuses with his virtuoso fretwork.

SUMMARY:Performance:Jeffrey Martin with special guest Niall Connolly
DESCRIPTION:“Music\, poetry\, and observations aimed directly at your soul” –Melissa Clarke Americana Highways\n\nAs a babe Jeffrey Martin sought out solitude as often as he could find it. He’s always been that way\, and he has never understood the whole phenomenon of smiling in pictures\, although he is a very happy guy. One night in middle school he stayed up under the covers with a flashlight and a DiscMan\, listening to Reba McEntire’s 'That’s the Night that the Lights Went Out in Georgia' on repeat until the DiscMan ran out of batteries. That night he became a songwriter\, although he didn’t actually write a song until years later. After high school he spent a few years distracting himself from having to gather up the courage to do what he knew he had to do.\n\nEventually he found his way to a writing degree\, and then a teaching degree. He wrote most days like his life depended on it\, all sorts of things\, not just songs\, but songs too. He fell in love with teaching high school English\, which was fantastic because he never thought he’d actually come to truly love it. His students were fierce and unstoppable forces of noise and curiosity\, and for all that they took from him in sleep and sense\, they gave him a hundred times back in sparks and humility. \n\nAll the while he was also playing truckloads of music. There was one weekend where he flew to LA while grading essays on the plane\, played two shows\, and then flew back home\, still grading essays\, and woke up to teach at 5 am on Monday morning. It was around this time he started wondering if such a life was sustainable.\n\nAlas\, music\, the tour life\, was a constant raccoon scratching at the back door. Jeffrey spent nights on end sitting up in bed\, and then sitting on the front porch\, staring off into the dark\, wondering if he could bear to leave teaching to go on tour full time. Eventually his brain caught up with what his guts had known for months. With tears in his eyes he announced to his students that he wouldn’t be back the following year\, and that he didn’t feel right hollering at them to chase their dreams at all cost if he wasn’t going to do the same.\n\nJeffrey Martin tours full time now. He is always making music\, and he is always coming through your town. He misses teaching like you might miss a good old friend who you know you’ll meet again.

SUMMARY:Performance:Pajamas
DESCRIPTION:A tapestry of sound - intricate and expansive\n\nIn an era of precision-crafted playlists and algorithmic recommendations\, Pajamas is a refreshing anomaly. Hailing from Ann Arbor\, MI\, Pajamas' style has been described as “exploratory rock\" - a good descriptor for Pajamas’ sound which contains a smorgasbord of influences from across almost the whole canon of American music tradition. This four man group is redefining the live music experience\, standing on the shoulders of giants and crafting performances that are as much about the journey as the destination. \n\nThe band’s rocky overall sound is nuanced\, feeling almost like each song is an interesting\, in-depth conversation between the band and audience. The band's four members - Nicholas Orr\, Graham Low\, Owen Kellenberger\, and Liam Gallegos - weave together a tapestry of sound that is both intricate and expansive. Songs blend seamlessly into one another\, creating a sense of flow and continuity that is all too rare in modern music.\n\nPajamas draws influence from the likes of Pink Floyd\, Phish\, Chick Corea\, Grateful Dead\, Jaco Pastorius\, David Bowie\, Brian Blade\, Radiohead\, Victor Wooten\, Allman Brothers and many others. Since 2018\, Pajamas has played hundreds of shows across the Midwest and beyond. From festivals like Summer Camp and big stages like Frederik Meijer Garden Amphitheater they’ve shared the stage with nationally touring acts including Goose\, Aqueous\, Thornetta Davis\, Karina Rykman and many others.

Instruments you might hear in the music of the collective include not only ukuleles but also guitar\, flute\, percussion\, harmonica\, accordion\, mandolin\, mandola\, bass\, piano\, and melodica. His musical career and accolades are many and varied\, but include hitting the UK charts in 1979 (#28 on “the New Wave of British Heavy Metal” despite being a blues band)\, getting a cease and desist order from Walt Disney Corp for using a band name too close to that of a cartoon mouse\, opening for bands such as the Yardbirds\, the Animals\, Wishbone Ash and Nine Below Zero\, and playing in some of the most famous venues anywhere such as London’s Marquee\, and\, well\, The Ark! In addition to leading BLUESHOUSE and fronting the Brain Plasticity Ukulele Collective\, he also works with Ann Arbor’s youth at the Neutral Zone\, a continuation of a youth music project begun in the UK called Electric896\, which taught disengaged youth how to rock the blues.

SUMMARY:Performance:Mark Erelli
DESCRIPTION:New music!\n\nCritically acclaimed singer/songwriter Mark Erelli is a Boston-based veteran of the folk and roots music scene\, renowned for his emotional honesty\, craftsmanship\, and warmth. Erelli exploded out of the gate in 1999 when he won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award in the wake of his “auspicious debut” (Billboard)\, joining the ranks of previous honorees like Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith. More recently\, Erelli penned the anti-gun violence song “By Degrees\,” recorded in collaboration with Rosanne Cash\, Sheryl Crow\, and others\, which garnered a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2019 Americana Honors and Awards. He followed this honor with a pair of records that drew comparisons to both Tom Petty and John Prine\, as well as praise for their energy\, grace\, and resilience. Now\, on his fourteenth solo album Spring Green\, Erelli delivers his most cohesive and emotionally resonant work to date—a meditation on vulnerability\, endurance\, and renewal. \n\nFollowing 2023’s Lay Your Darkness Down\, which chronicled his response to vision loss from retinitis pigmentosa\, Spring Green finds Erelli in a place of hard-won peace. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Zachariah Hickman and tracked largely live over three days\, the album feels fluid and organic—more watercolor painting than photographic snapshot. Its intimate sound recalls classic singer-songwriters like Jackson Browne and James Taylor\, prioritizing storytelling and emotional clarity over stylistic showmanship.\n\nBy choosing to release Spring Green independently through Bandcamp and personally fulfilling each order\, Erelli reaffirms his commitment to authentic connection over industry convention. The album stands as both an artistic statement and a survival guide—proof that true strength lies in softness\, and that being wholly oneself is more than enough.

SUMMARY:Performance:Howley
DESCRIPTION:The next chapter from the brothers who redefined Irish folk music.\n\nFor over a decade\, David and Martin Howley have been at the heart of a musical revolution. As founding members of We Banjo 3\, the Galway-born brothers brought Irish traditional music to new heights — blending it with Americana\, bluegrass\, and contemporary songcraft to create a sound beloved across the world. Their electrifying live shows\, virtuosic playing\, and brotherly chemistry made We Banjo 3 one of the most celebrated acts on the international folk scene.\n\nNow\, the brothers return with a brand-new project: Howley — a re-imagining of that signature sound for a new era. With Martin’s dazzling mastery on banjo and mandolin and David’s unmistakable voice and rhythmic guitar\, Howley is both a continuation and a renewal — rooted in tradition but reaching fearlessly toward the future.\n\nJoined by two world-class artists\, Kiana June (fiddle\, vocals) and Caitlin Leahy (percussion\, flute\, vocals)\, Howley expands the brothers’ trademark sound with lush harmonies\, fiery fiddle\, and rhythmic flair. The result is warm\, vibrant\, and deeply human — a band that feels both comfortingly familiar and thrillingly new.\n\nMartin Howley\, a seven-time All-Ireland champion and the first Irish banjoist to perform on the Grand Ole Opry\, brings dazzling precision and playful charisma to every performance.\n\nDavid Howley\, known for his soulful voice and magnetic stage presence\, fuses the sensitivity of a songwriter with the power of a rock frontman.\n\nKiana June\, the “fiddle-fueled” virtuoso of Gaelic Storm and Come From Away\, infuses the music with both elegance and fire.\n\nCaitlin Leahy\, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist from the celebrated Leahy’s Luck family\, provides rhythmic heartbeat and shimmering vocal textures.\n\nTogether\, they form a sound built on connection — the pulse of family\, the spark of shared history\, and the joy of collaboration.\n\nWith Howley\, the brothers have created something new: music that celebrates their past but looks ahead with open arms. Their live show is full of laughter\, harmony\, and heart — the kind of energy that reminds audiences why they fell in love with folk music in the first place.\n\n“Fans of We Banjo 3 will recognize the spirit — but Howley brings it into a new light: deeper\, braver\, and bursting with soul.”

SUMMARY:Performance:Vance Gilbert
DESCRIPTION:“If Joni Mitchell and Richie Havens had a love child\, with Rodney Dangerfield as the midwife\, the results might be something close to the great Vance Gilbert\" –Richmond Magazine\n\nVance was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. Starting out hoping to be an R&B and jazz singer once at college\, there he discovered his affinity for the storytelling sensibilities of the acoustic singer-songwriter thing. Word spread like wildfire about Gilbert's stage-owning singing and playing\, and Shawn Colvin invited him to be special guest on her 1992 Fat City tour where he took much of America by storm and by surprise. “With the voice of an angel\, the wit of a devil\, and the guitar playing of a god..” wrote the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.\n\nMost recently he’s been the opener of choice for Mad About You/Stranger Things star Paul Reiser’s stand-up shows (50 +) for the last 7 years\, along with his own busy acoustic music touring and coaching schedule. \n\nVance's most recent album\, \"The Mother Of Trouble”\, features Grammy winner Lori McKenna on background vocals\, Juno award recipient and Bonnie Raitt Grammy hit song co-writer Joey Landreth on guitars\, and Americana-Roots master mandolinist Joe K. Walsh.

SUMMARY:Performance:Davina and the Vagabonds
DESCRIPTION:“Davina Sowers creates her own Americana mishmash — a little Amy Winehouse-worthy neo-soul here\, a little Great American Songbook-influenced songcraft there.” –Rolling Stone Magazine\n\n“Davina and the Vagabonds combat heartache with sugar and sass.\" –Downbeat Magazine\n\nDavina Sowers and the Vagabonds have created a stir on the national music scene with their high-energy live shows\, level A musicianship\, sharp-dressed professionalism\, and Sowers’ commanding stage presence. With influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits\, the band is converting audiences one show at a time\, from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe. \n\nMuch like the music\, the story spurns era\, expectation\, and classification. The often unbelievable\, sometimes harrowing\, and wholly inspiring journey of Davina Sowers gave birth to her eponymous band Davina and The Vagabonds in 2004. As the tale goes\, she grew up in the economically depressed Allegheny town of Altoona\, PA\, which she now describes as “awesome in the industrial era\, but horrible for high school.” She was adopted by her much older stepfather when he was in his 80s\; he passed away when she was just 13. Through him and his Edison phonograph\, she first heard The Ink Spots\, Sidney Bechet\, Louis Armstrong and Louis Prima\, Sister Rosetta Tharpe\, and many others. “Great man. He was my angel and still is\,” she says.\n\nOn her own\, she vividly recalls hours in front of the record player where she religiously spun Led Zeppelin\, Black Sabbath\, and Simon and Garfunkel records belonging to her folk singer mom.\n\nTo this day\, Davina still refers to music as “my first and eternal love.” Despite early dalliances with classical piano and guitar\, she developed a heavy drug habit in high school\, which morphed into heroin dependency\, left her homeless\, sent her in and out of jail\, and brought on all manner of trouble. Kicking dope on the streets\, she “got clean\, started the band\, and worked [her] ass off every day since.” \n\nDavina and the Vagabonds shine every time they play. To date\, they’ve performed in forty-five states\, twelve European countries\, and two Canadian provinces. Not to mention\, they’ve earned feverish acclaim from the Chicago Tribune\, NPR\, and more in addition to performing on BBC’s international favorite late-night program Later… With Jools Holland and appearing on PBS’s Bluegrass Underground.

SUMMARY:Performance:Jon Muq
DESCRIPTION:Melding the sounds of America with the sounds of Uganda\n\nFor Jon Muq\, a singer-songwriter born in Uganda and now living in Austin\, Texas\, music is part of a larger conversation he’s having with the world and everybody in it. Drawing from African as well as western musical trends and traditions\, he devises songs as small gifts\, designed to settle into everyday life and provoke reflection and resilience. “These days the world is sad\,” he explains\, “so I wanted to make happy songs. I wanted to write songs that connected with the listener in a very personal way. When someone listens to my music\, it’s not just about me and what I’m singing. It’s about how they understand the songs individually. I think these songs can speak many languages\, depending on what you want from them.”\n\nMuq’s experiences as a child in Uganda and as a man in America give him a unique perspective on the world he’s addressing. “I grew up in a very different life\, where so many people pass through hard times just because they don’t have much. Our biggest issue was food scarcity. Then I came to a different world\, which gave me a picture of how to write a song that can find balance with everyone wherever they are\, whether they have a lot or not much.” With his May 31st debut album with producer Dan Auerbach and tours with Billy Joel\, Norah Jones\, Mavis Staples\, Amythyst Kiah\, Corinne Bailey Rae\, and others\, Muq is expanding the scope of his music to speak to more and more people.

SUMMARY:Performance:Chris Knight w/sg Matt Woods
DESCRIPTION:“a storyteller in the best traditions of Mellencamp and Springsteen” –USA Today\n\nAfter 23 years as a recording artist\, singer-songwriter Chris Knight remains boldly empowered to make music that always delivers the unflinching truth. In fact\, the man raised in Slaughters\, Kentucky uses a simple\, direct barometer to regularly check his muse: “If I can’t believe myself\, I won’t sing the song.”\n\nWhat Knight writes about is what he knows. He was raised in mining country\, so it’s no surprise that he would earn a degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University and then work as a mine reclamation inspector and then miner’s consultant. But eventually his passion for writing songs and playing guitar\, both inspired by his musical hero\, the late John Prine\, led him to chronicle his surroundings in words and music.\n\n“I came from a big family and grew up in the woods six miles from two small towns\, so there were a lot of stories\,” he says. “There were always a lot of ideas to write about.”\n\nIt’s no wonder that Knight has single-handedly scraped a reputation as one of America’s most uncompromising and respected singer-songwriters through 23 years and nine studio albums. He’s done this minus fanfare and artifice. The native son of Slaughters\, Kentucky (population: 238) only sings songs he believes. He also speaks only when he has a potent message.

SUMMARY:Performance:Suzy Bogguss
DESCRIPTION:“Radiant and transportive” –No Depression\n\nDuring the creative explosion that was country music in the 1990s Suzy Bogguss sold 4 million records with sparkling radio hits like “Outbound Plane\,” “Someday Soon\,” “Letting Go\,” “Drive South\,” and “Hey Cinderella.\" But you can’t peg Suzy that easily… \n\nIn the midst of her country popularity she took time off to make a duets album with the legendary Chet Atkins. In 2003 she made an album of modern swing music with Ray Benson of Asleep At The Wheel. An album of original music in 2007 landed her at number 4 on the jazz charts. Her folk music roots show through in her frequent appearances on public radio’s A Prairie Home Companion\, in the Grammy she earned for her work on Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster\, and in her critically acclaimed album and book project from 2011\, American Folk Songbook. In 2014 she released Lucky\, a collection of songs written by Merle Haggard and interpreted through Suzy’s crystal vocals from the female point of view. Her latest offering\, Prayin’ For Sunshine\, is an Americana tour de force with all songs written by Bogguss. \n\nShe continues to tour the world\, both on her own and with fellow country radio divas Terri Clark and Pam Tills as “Chicks With Hits” and more recently\, with Kathy Mattea on their Together At Last tour. So yes\, you can call her a country singer if you want\, but really that’s just the beginning.

SUMMARY:Performance:The Seldom Scene
DESCRIPTION:Legendary bluegrass\n\nFifty-three years into a legendary career\, much has changed about The Seldom Scene\, starting with the venerable progressive bluegrass quintet’s various lineup iterations over time. But even as band members have stepped in and out of various roles\, what’s most important is what hasn’t changed: an undeniable knack for blending both old and new music and traditions without sacrificing what makes either potent and durable. Their current iteration is a true blue lineup: guitarist mandolin player Lou Reid\, bassist Ronnie Simpkins\, banjoist and fiddler Ron Stewart\, dobro player Fred Travers\, and guitarist Clay Hess.\n\nSince they started up together in 1971\, The Seldom Scene has dexterously performed original and traditional songs while presenting fiery and soulful reinterpretations of material by Merle Haggard\, James Taylor\, and more. The concept of bluegrass unshackling itself from a conservative\, straight-ahead mindset seems like a given now\, when some of its biggest stars fill stadiums and cross over with mainstream audiences\, but the continued presence of the Scene acts as a reminder that it wasn’t always so. Even if their playing style feels more at home in intimate clubs\, where the audience can feel their exuberance radiating from the stage\, the Scene’s elastic relationship to genre established an important precedent that encouraged their contemporaries and allowed bluegrass bands to expand their repertoire in ways that laid the groundwork for today’s bluegrass boom.

SUMMARY:Performance:Paper Wings
DESCRIPTION:“Paper Wings blends two distinct voices and impeccable skills as instrumentalists to create a modern\, unified vision built on Appalachian traditions.” —No Depression\n\nLong-time friends and collaborators Emily Mann and Wila Frank\, known together as Paper Wings\, dream up warm\, pastoral folk songs furnished with delicate banjo and spellbinding harmonies so close you often can’t tell their voices apart. On their latest project\, Listen to the World Spin\, the Nashville duo’s songwriting flourishes\, displaying their exceptional ability to reference nostalgic sounds of American folk music while maintaining their own compelling style of artful and unpretentious lyricism. Embracing themes of solitude\, nature\, and passage through time and space\, Listen to the World Spin is a beautiful exploration of how we are never alone in our search for meaning and certainty in difficult times. “We needed these songs to guide and comfort us through the last few years\,” says Frank\, “And we hope they’ll do the same for others.” Listen to the World Spin was released on March 15th\, 2024 with support from Free Dirt Records.

SUMMARY:Performance:Dave & Kristi
DESCRIPTION:“Irrepressible verve and joy.” –Daniel Bracken\, Wheatland Music Festival\n\nOne time garage rock troubadour Dave Boutette\, and former Radio City Rockette Kristi Lynn Davis make what could be considered an unexpected musical pairing\, but they have certainly found a way to make it work. Since pairing Dave’s celebrated songwriting with Kristi’s natural gift for harmony\, the duo has delighted audiences at music festivals\, house concerts\, and listening rooms from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to the Maryland shore. Their most recent release THE CHICKADEES reached #11 on the Folk DJ Chart in June of 2025.\n\nFor additional spark in the set list that night\, Dave & Kristi will be bringing along Jason Dennie on mandolin and Brad Phillips on fiddle.\n\nDave & Kristi’s songs mix many schools of American roots and popular music including folk\, blues\, swing\, and old time country. The lyrics testify to the power of true love\, rebirth\, Polka bands\, coffee\, and migrating fish.

SUMMARY:Performance:Kim Richey
DESCRIPTION:“an artist known for beguiling melodies and a supple turn of a phrase.” –American Songwriter\n\nIn January 2024\, Kim Richey found herself in Mexico\, gazing out at a sea of people singing along to “I’m Alright\,” one of her classic tracks. The three folks on stage with the veteran\, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter were also raising their voices in harmony. To her right sat Brandi Carlile\, to her left\, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Brandy Clark. The formidable foursome was participating in a songwriter’s round only half-jokingly dubbed “Titans of Americana” at Carlile’s female-forward Girls Just Wanna Weekend festival on the Riviera Maya in Mexico.\n\n“That was nuts looking out and seeing everybody arm-waving and singing along\,” says Richey\, still both incredulous and cheered by the memory of performing with that supergroup and later appearing alongside other Girls Just Wanna Weekend-ers Annie Lennox\, Lucius\, Allison Russell\, and Sarah McLachlan among others. “It was just like\, ‘wow’!”\n\nThe good news for fans of this particular Titan is a whole new batch of songs to sing along with and arm wave to with the release of her 10th studio album Every New Beginning. The 10 songs on Every New Beginning represent the full spectrum of the Ohio native’s gifts as both a revered songwriter who can leap from melancholy to mirthful in a single couplet — whose songs have been recorded by the likes of Brooks and Dunn\, Patty Loveless\, and Mary Chapin Carpenter — and owner of one of music’s truly celestial voices. \n\nThat voice\, which Brandi Carlile has cited as formative in crafting her own style\, is a widely sought after harmony instrument and has been featured on scores of albums including Jason Isbell’s acclaimed Southeastern\, Trisha Yearwood’s Everybody Knows\, Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams\, Reba McEntire’s Starting Over\, and Has Been by Capt. Kirk himself\, William Shatner\, among many others.

SUMMARY:Performance:Chris Smither
DESCRIPTION:“an American original – a product of the musical melting pot and one of the absolute best singer-songwriters in the world.” –Associated Press\n\nBorn in Miami\, during World War II\, Chris Smither grew up in New Orleans where he first started playing music as a child. The son of a Tulane University professor\, he was taught the rudiments of instrumentation by his uncle on his mother’s ukulele. “Uncle Howard\,” Smither says\, “showed me that if you knew three chords\, you could play a lot of the songs you heard on the radio. And if you knew four chords\, you could pretty much rule the world.” With that bit of knowledge under his belt\, he was hooked. “I’d loved acoustic music – specifically the blues – ever since I first heard Lightnin’ Hopkins’ Blues In My Bottle album. I couldn’t believe the sound Hopkins got. At first I thought it was two guys playing guitar. My style\, to a degree\, came out of trying to imitate that sound I heard.”\n\nIn his early twenties\, Smither turned his back on his anthropology studies and headed to Boston at the urging of legendary folk singer Eric von Schmidt. It was the mid-’60s and acoustic music thrived in the streets and coffeehouses there. Smither forged lifelong friendships with many musicians\, including Bonnie Raitt who went on to record his songs\, “Love You Like A Man” and “I Feel the Same. (Their friendship has endured as their career paths intertwined over the years.) What quickly evolved from his New Orleans and Cambridge musical experiences is his enduring\, singular guitar sound – a beat-driven finger-picking\, strongly influenced by the playing of Mississippi John Hurt and Lightnin’ Hopkins\, layered over the ever-present backbeat of his rhythmic\, tapping feet (always mic’d in performance).

SUMMARY:Performance:Darrell Scott
DESCRIPTION:A Nashville virtuoso\n\nMulti-Instrumentalist and Singer-Songwriter Darrell Scott mines and cultivates the everyday moment\, taking the rote\, menial\, mundane\, and allowing it to be surreal\, ever poignant\, and candidly honest\, lilting\, blooming\, and resonating. The words he fosters allow us to make sense of the world\, what is at stake here\, and our place in it. And ultimately\, Darrell knows the sole truth of life is that love is all that matters\, that we don’t always get it right\, but that’s the instinctive and requisite circuitous allure of things\, why we forever chase it\, and why it is held sacred.\n\nDarrell Scott comes from a musical family with a father who had him smitten with guitars by the age of 4\, alongside a brother who played Jerry Reed style as well. From there\, things only ramped up with literature and poetry endeavors while a student at Tufts University\, along with playing his way through life. This would never change.\n\nAfter recently touring with Robert Plant and the Zac Brown Band (2 years with each)\, and producing albums for Malcolm Holcomb and Guy Clark and being named “songwriter of the year” for both ASCAP and NSAI\, these days find him roaming his Tennessee wilderness acreage hiking along the small river\, creating delicious meals with food raised on his property and playing music. He often leads songwriting workshops to help people tell their own truths with their stories\, and is as busy as always writing\, producing\, performing\, and just plain fully immersing himself in life.

SUMMARY:Performance:Stories & Songs: An Evening with Radney Foster & Kelly Willis
DESCRIPTION:Radney Foster first gained attention as half of the duo Foster & Lloyd\, who with “Crazy Over You” became the first duo in history to top the Country charts with their debut single. He then established himself as a solo artist in the early 90’s with his critically acclaimed release Del Rio\, Texas 1959. \n\nKnown as a songwriter’s songwriter\, his songs have been recorded by everyone from Keith Urban and the Chicks to Hootie & the Blowfish and George Benson. His own hits like “Just Call Me Lonesome\,” “Nobody Wins\,” and “Texas In 1880” continue to be played on radio and by bands around the world.\n\nHis most recent project For You To See The Stars is in two parts\, a book of short fiction\, and a collection of songs to go with it. He is currently working on another book of fiction\, as well as developing film and TV projects.\n\nSinger-songwriter Kelly Willis captured critical acclaim from her first release\, with a distinctive voice that conveys both tender heartache and smoldering heat. Born in Oklahoma\, she moved often as a kid with her Army Colonel dad. She started singing professionally at 16\, fronting the rockabilly band “Kelly and the Fireballs” in the DC area\, but it soon became clear she was more of a country singer. After high school\, she moved to Austin and It wasn’t long before she got on the radar of MCA’s Tony Brown\, who signed her after an introduction by Nanci Griffith.\n\nKelly’s recording career began at a time when Nashville was experiencing a creative resurgence with the likes of Lyle Lovett\, Steve Earle\, Foster & Lloyd and The O'Kanes. She recorded three albums for MCA that were critical hits\, but it wasn’t until she left the major label restrictions behind that she came into her own with 1999’s What I Deserve for Rykodisc.\n\nThe albums Willis has made since What I Deserve have only burnished her reputation as Austin’s reigning queen of Americana\, including being inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame. When not performing her own music\, Kelly tours with Brennan Leigh and Melissa Carper as Wonder Women of Country\, in support of their 2023 self-titled EP.

SUMMARY:Performance:Jason Carter Band
DESCRIPTION:The award winning fiddler from the Del McCoury Band takes the lead\n\nIn Lloyd\, Kentucky\, on U.S. 23\, there’s a sign on the Country Music Highway dedicated to renowned fiddler Jason Carter. It was placed there because of his other accomplishments—the Grammy awards\, the worldwide tours\, and the many other accolades he’s earned through his music. But for Carter\, joining the legendary names honored on that stretch of highway just might mean the most. \"There's a certain sound that's up there that you just don't hear anywhere else\,\" he says. \"I think that played a big part in how I sound today.\" \n\nTrue to those Kentucky roots\, Carter continues to pour all he has back into bluegrass. For thirty years\, he has been the fiddle player for the Del McCoury Band—the most awarded group in bluegrass history. He’s won three Grammy awards\, including 2018’s “Best Bluegrass Album” with the Travelin’ McCourys\, of which he is a founding member. And he’s taken home five IBMAs for “Fiddle Player of the Year\,” a staggering number that isn’t quite so crazy once you realize just how many bluegrass greats have turned to Carter for collaboration. \n\nAs a fiddler\, Carter has been featured on albums by Steve Earle\, Ricky Skaggs\, Dierks Bentley\, Charlie Daniels\, Vince Gill\, Asleep at the Wheel\, and many more\, all in addition to his tireless touring and recording with Del as well as the Travelin’ McCourys. On Carter’s forthcoming solo album\, Lowdown Hoedown\, listeners may recognize instrumental contributions from such legends as Jerry Douglas or Sam Bush alongside vocals from young trailblazers like Sarah Jarosz or Billy Strings. This time\, though\, Carter is singing lead. \n\nWith Lowdown Hoedown\, Carter shares the fruits of decades’ worth of on-the-road experience\, spectacular musical sensibility\, and genuine excitement for what bluegrass can be.

SUMMARY:Performance:Esther Rose
DESCRIPTION:New music!\n\nEsther Rose was on a long solo drive when she started writing the opening title track of Want\, her stunning fifth album. At first\, the words seemed almost like a joke\, something to keep herself amused as the miles passed. “I want a puppy\, but I don't want a mess. I want to know where I’m going without GPS\,” she sang from behind the wheel. Soon\, the idea snowballed into a list of desires that spanned existential\, spiritual\, and mundane\; romantic to platonic to familial\; at once wildly ambitious yet piercingly relatable\; all set to a catchy melody that blends her pop instincts with country storytelling and the raw immediacy of a basement punk show. In other words\, she was on her way to another classic Esther Rose song.\n\nThis precise blend has made the Santa Fe-based artist one of her generation’s most beloved songwriters: someone whose live shows are known to conclude in mass tears and group hugs. Still\, something was different this time. “For me\, these songs felt like revelations\,” she explains\, comparing the 11-song record to a memoir\, alive with kinetic storytelling and personal insight. In its newly direct and stirringly nuanced writing\, you’ll hear about rock bottom encounters\, shifting relationships with substances\, evolving perspectives on adult partnership\, and\, as evidenced by those early lines in “Want\,” a few jokes along the way. Vivid and bracing\, Want places you in the passenger seat while each of these feelings arrive.\n\nTo match the multi-dimensional tone of the writing\, Rose has made the most adventurous\, hardest-hitting record of her career. Working with producer Ross Farbe and recording live-to-tape in Nashville’s Bomb Shelter\, she travels as far as she’s been from the stripped-down classic country of celebrated early work like 2017’s This Time Last Night and 2019’s You Made It This Far. Following the wide-open serenity of 2023’s momentous Safe to Run\, she now leans toward confrontational arrangements full of distortion and full-band spontaneity\, never sacrificing a classicist’s gift for melody that makes each song instantly memorable.

In them\, listeners will hear and feel honesty\, gratitude\, and thoughtful introspection\, with doses of humor and drama to vary the pace. Somehow\, it all fits together to provide an attention grabbing extravaganza.\n\nDetroit-based indie-folk band Jackamo opens. Led by sisters Alison and Tessa Wiercioch (vocals) and Jimmy Showers (guitar)\, and known for their blood harmonies\, acoustic textures\, and lyric-driven storytelling\, their sound is intimate\, nostalgic\, and always evolving.

SUMMARY:Performance:Girl Named Tom
DESCRIPTION:New music!\n\nFrom a small-town minivan to sold-out theaters\, Girl Named Tom’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Siblings Bekah\, Caleb\, and Joshua Liechty grew up making music together but officially formed their band in 2019\, hitting the road with a self-funded tour and their debut EP\, Another World. Their tight harmonies and heartfelt songwriting captivated audiences\, leading them to make history as the first group to win The Voice. \n\nSince then\, the trio has sold over 100\,000 tickets across 40 states\, headlined nationwide tours\, and performed at the Grand Ole Opry\, the Indianapolis 500\, and on The Ellen Show. They’ve shared the stage with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra\, Kelsea Ballerini\, Lady A\, and Pentatonix\, but their signature sound remains unmistakably their own—fusing folk\, pop\, and sibling magic to create music that moves the soul. \n\nIn April 2026\, Girl Named Tom will hit the road on a nationwide tour promoting their new album\, Dust to Dust. The momentum will keep rolling with a performance on NBC’s The Voice in early April\, alongside an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show shortly thereafter.

SUMMARY:Performance:Bill Kirchen
DESCRIPTION:Album release party!\n\nBill apparently got off his butt and recorded a bunch of new songs. Given that Ann Arbor is his ancestral home\, and the very place he and some like-minded souls formed Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen\, Bill has promised not to wear you out with too much inscrutable new material. He has assured us that he’ll also bring some reminiscences with a good selection of songs from his checkered past. And as we've never been able to get him out of here without him launching into a few Dylan songs\, we’ll be on guard for that as well. What else? Oh yes\, he did say he had some home town Stories That Can Finally Be Told\, but offered no assurances that he will remember them. He also said\, tell ‘em I’m bringing my Texas band Rick Richards and Jack Saunders for the full Honky-Tonk Rock’n'Roll experience\, and that I’m quite a bit jollier than that picture would indicate. \n\nGrammy nominated guitarist\, singer and songwriter Bill Kirchen is one of the fortunate few who can step on any stage\, play those trademark licks which drove the seminal Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top Ten nationwide\, and elicit instant recognition. Named a “Titan of the Telecaster” by Guitar Player Magazine\, he celebrates a musical tradition that embraces rock ‘n’ roll\, blues and bluegrass\, Texas Western swing and California honkytonk. Nick Lowe describes Bill as “... a devastating culmination of the elegant and funky… a really sensational musician\, with enormous depth.” Justly famous for his indelible Telecaster sound\, Bill Kirchen has been everywhere over the span of a 50-plus-year career: he was a founding member of the legendary Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen\; he released a dozen critically acclaimed solo albums\; he toured internationally with Nick Lowe and has performed or recorded with Doug Sahm\, Gene Vincent\, Elvis Costello\, Dan Hicks\, Emmylou Harris\, Linda Ronstadt \,Bruce Hornsby and Link Wray.

DESCRIPTION:“While the band tends to describe its sound as Southwestern rock ’n’ roll\, you’ll also hear influences of Tejano and Conjunto\, the Pogues\, the British Invasion\, and even New Age — capturing the breadth of music in the Lone Star State.” \n–Texas Music\n\nFeaturing five musicians who grew up in El Paso\, Lubbock and Amarillo\, the West Texas Exiles draw upon the wide-open western reaches of the Lone Star State with a wide-ranging\, Americana-centered sound. Rising from the embers of the Dirty River Boys\, which Marco Gutierrez co-founded in 2009\, the Austin band features a triple-threat of songwriters in Gutierrez\, Daniel Davis and Colin Gilmore (son of legendary Texas troubadour Jimmie Dale Gilmore)\, plus seasoned bassist Eric Harrison and latter-day Dirty River Boys drummer Trinidad Leal. The Exiles' 2023 debut EP paved the way for their first full-length album\, 8000 Days\, due out later this year. The recordings build upon the live chops the group has honed through a weekly residency at Austin’s legendary Continental Club plus gigs at key local events such as SXSW and Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion\, as well as high-profile touring appearances at Nashville’s Americanafest\, Braun Brothers Reunion and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.

SUMMARY:Performance:The Bros. Landreth: Tumbling Wild Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:New Music!\n\nThe Bros. Landreth are two-time JUNO Award winners from Winnipeg\, known for their blend of guitar-driven\, soulful\, blood harmony roots music. The band\, the core of which consists of brothers Dave and Joey Landreth\, has earned critical acclaim and a dedicated audience for their heartfelt songs\, inventive musicianship\, and powerful performances. From their early days attending their father's gigs as babies (\"Mom would tuck us into a bassinet and slide us under the bar tables\,\" says Dave)\, the brothers have spent a lifetime touring rock clubs\, theatres\, and music festivals across North America\, the UK\, Europe\, and Australia\, including stand-out performances at Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia and Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Los Angeles. In 2023\, a banner year for the band\, Joey and Dave became Grammy-winning songwriters when Bonnie Raitt’s cover of their song\, Made Up Mind (from their first album\, Let it Lie)\, earned the Grammy for Americana Performance of the Year. The recognition was a fitting nod from one of their musical heroes\, as their own music draws inspiration from the well-worn records of their childhood — Bonnie Raitt's blues\, Little Feat's funky country-rock\, Ry Cooder's eclectic instrumentals\, Lyle Lovett's twangy traditionalism — culminating in a sound that salutes the past while planting its flag firmly in the present.\n\nDrawing on the energy of their recent live shows and a newfound sense of creative purpose\, The Bros. Landreth returned to the studio for their fourth full-length album\, Dog Ear. This record captures the spontaneous and collaborative spirit of their touring band\, which includes drummer Roman Clarke and producer Murray Pulver\, and marks a new\, more effortless approach to songwriting. The band describes the album as a deeply personal and emotionally resonant work\, exploring themes of family and the quest for stability amidst the itinerant life of a touring musician\, and says it's \"really about trying to figure out what it means to be a consistent force in the lives of the people you care about.\" With songs like the title track written for their children\, the album captures a raw and focused energy in the studio\, featuring a handful of magical first takes and special collaborations with pop vocalist Begonia\, keyboardist Glenn Patscha\,and a powerful guest vocal performance from their longtime hero\, Bonnie Raitt\, who appears on two tracks (Knuckles\, Half Moon Eyes).

SUMMARY:Performance:Riders in the Sky
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning harmonies\, wacky Western wit and high-yodeling adventures\n\n40 years. It seemed to go by in a blur\, pounding the road\, seeing the world\, raising babies and sending them to college\, mowing lawns\, romances\, marriages\, high school drama\, endless airports\, the nights at the Hollywood Bowl\, the night at the Red Barn in Louisville dodging various barroom projectiles\, frozen diesel lines\, blast furnace desert heat\, hours of practice\, late nights and early mornings\, and lots and lots and lots of laughter.\n \n40 years ago. No laptops\, no cellular phones\, no Google\, no downloads\, no Skype\, no Tweets\, no Apple\, no Microsoft\, no texting\, no electric cars\, no Uber. A different world. But there were three young men with drive and wit who wanted to keep a special music alive. They believed in preserving the heritage of Western Music and presenting it to a new generation. They believed in entertaining\, and they did so… entertaining themselves as well as the audience! And they believed in creating original Western Music to continue the tradition\, not just seal it in amber as a museum piece. What they did not realize at the time was that they would be doing the same thing 40 years later.\n \n40 years ago\, Ranger Doug\, Too Slim and the late Windy Bill Collins played that first date on the bitter cold evening of November 11th\, 1977 at Herr Harry’s Frank N’ Stein Rathskeller in Nashville\, and small listening room dates followed. By August of the following year demand was building\, and while Windy Bill left\, Woody Paul joined\, and the true professional beginnings of the band began at the Kentucky State Fair\, where the trio played 10 days for $2500- and bought their own rooms and meals out of that!\n \nA first wave followed\, including appearances on Austin City Limits\; recording contracts with Rounder\, then MCA\, then Columbia\; guest appearances on the Grand Ole Opry leading to membership in 1982\; and a three-year run on The Nashville Network with a TV show called “Tumbleweed Theater\,” which yet in turn led to a seven-year run on public radio with “Riders Radio Theater. People Magazine\, interested in the Riders phenomenon\, ran a story which happily caught the eye of a Hollywood producer.\n \nAnd so the second wave broke\, sending the boys to Hollywood to star in “Riders In The Sky” on CBS for a year on Saturday mornings\, introducing them to yet another generation. More recordings\, endless show dates\, and television appearances followed for a decade before the fine folks at Pixar called and asked the quartet – by this time they had been joined by Joey the Cowpolka King – to sing a tune called “Woody’s Roundup” in the movie “Toy Story 2.” Thus\, the third wave began\, highlighted by a number of projects for Disney\, including two albums\, both of which won GRAMMY Awards!\n \nThe creation of satellite radio has recently given them a new platform\, as they continue to produce episodes of the award winning “Classic Cowboy Corral” on Sirius/XM.\n \nStill more road dates and recordings (several on their own Riders Radio Records label) and other film and television projects have filled the days and weeks and years\, and since the quartet has slowed up very little\, the numbers begin to add up: an astonishing 7\,200+ appearances\, 35 years on the Grand Ole Opry\, 40 records albums (well\, now CDs\,) and tours of all 50 states and all over the world. Honors accumulated as well. In addition to the two Grammy Awards\, Riders received numerous awards from the Western Music Association\, including the highest: membership in the Western Music Hall of Fame\; numerous Wrangler awards from the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum\; awards from the Academy of Western Artists\; enshrinement in the Walkway of Western Stars\, and more. What began as a celebration of classic Western Music and an evening of hilarity has become a career\, and that career has become a legend\, one which\, 40 years on\, shows no signs of stopping or even slowing down much.\n \nRanger Doug\, Too Slim\, Woody Paul and Joey the Cowpolka King… 40 years on\, “The Cowboy Way.”
