DESCRIPTION:What truths do we hold as Americans from varying backgrounds and beliefs? Join award-winning artist Holly Bass for interactive writing and artmaking activities as we discuss the 250th anniversary of the United States.\n\nHolly Bass is the Penny Stamps School of Art and Design 2025-2026 Roman J. Witt Artist in Residence whose work will be featured in an upcoming exhibition at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Known for her genre-defying practice that spans dance\, theater\, visual art\, and writing\, Bass is an award-winning artist and cultural worker based in Washington\, DC. Her work — held in the collections of the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery — frequently engages communities through workshops\, devised theater\, and participatory installations.\n\nThis event will take place in The Annex tent at Ann Arbor Summer Festival's Top of the Park on Ingalls Mall\, 881 N University Ave\, Ann Arbor\, MI 48109.\n\nPresented in partnership with the Penny Stamps School of Art & Design\, UMMA\, and the Ann Arbor Summer Festival.

DESCRIPTION:Make a print inspired by Japanese artwork from the University of Michigan Museum of Art’s (UMMA) collection. You’ll learn about printmaking processes\, trace reproductions from the museum\, and add personal touches in this workshop led by educators from UMMA. Bring your imagination!\n   \n   Please note that this workshop is held in the Secret Lab at Ann Arbor District Library Downtown.
