Born in Chicago to Punjabi immigrant parents, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Loyola University Chicago, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in English from Ohio University. Bolina currently resides in Florida, where he serves as Chair of the Department of English and Creative Writing and teaches in the M.F.A. program at the University of Miami.\n\nOften blending personal narrative with politics and metaphysics, Bolina\u2019s poetry is noted for its investigation of the \u201cperceptual and sonic ground\u201d of modern life. He is the author of four full-length poetry collections, including his debut *Carrier Wave* (2007)\u2014adapted from his M.F.A. thesis at the University of Michigan\u2014*Phantom Camera *(2013), and *The 44th of July* (2019). His most recent collection, *English as a Second Language and Other Poems* (2023), which was awarded the 2025 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award from Claremont Graduate University, continues his deep dive into cultural identity. As Secretary, he oversees 21 museums, 21 libraries, the National Zoo, numerous research centers, and several education units and centers. Two new museums\u2014the National Museum of the American Latino and the Smithsonian American Women\u2019s History Museum\u2014are in development. Bunch was the founding director of the Smithsonian\u2019s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Bunch chronicled the creation of the museum in his book, *A Fool\u2019s Errand: Creating the National Museum of African American History and Culture in the Age of Bush, Obama, and Trump*, and is the first historian to be Secretary of the Institution. Since 2024, Bunch has been Honorary Professor of Practice at Queen\u2019s University Belfast. A member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, Bunch received France\u2019s highest award, The Legion of Honor, in 2021.\n\nLynette Clemetson is Director of Wallace House Center for Journalists, home of the Knight-Wallace Fellowships for Journalists and the Livingston Awards for Young Journalists at the University of Michigan. She came to the university from NPR where she was Senior Director of Strategy and Content Initiatives, developing and guiding projects across broadcast, digital and events to develop new audiences. Her career in journalism spans newspapers, magazines and audio across a range of platforms. As a reporter, she was a Washington-based correspondent for *The New York Times *and *Newsweek*, writing about politics, social issues and demographic change. Prior to her domestic correspondent work, she was an international correspondent for *Newsweek *based in Hong Kong, where she covered the former British colony\u2019s return to Chinese rule in 1997. A graduate of Stanford University's Symbolic Systems program, he took creative writing classes with Adam Johnson, ZZ Packer, and Elizabeth Tallent. After graduating, he published a handful of stories, one of which won an O. Henry Award, as he worked for a small Bay Area UX firm. He got accepted to the Iowa Writers' Workshop the same week he was laid off in 2010. \n\nAt Iowa he finished most of a draft of his debut novel *Private Citizens*, which was called \"the first great Millennial novel\" by *New York Magazine* after its publication in 2016, and received a Whiting Writers' Award. In 2017 he founded CRIT, an independent class he teaches out of his apartment in Brooklyn, whose alumni have gone on to publish 34 books to date. He has written for *The Paris Review, N+1, The New York Times, The New Republic, The Believer, Playboy, The Nation,* and others. \n\nTony's second book is a novel-in-stories, *Rejection*, published in 2024. *Rejection* has been translated into seven languages, and was nominated for the National Book Award, the Story Prize, and the Clark Prize, and received a Jack Galef Literary Arts award. Times* Book Prize. She is also the author of the chaplet *Unless* (Belladonna*, 2019), which received the 2019 Kate Tufts Discovery Award and the Colorado Book Award. Her video work has recently been exhibited at the Miller Institute for Contemporary Art. Nguyen is a Kundiman fellow and member of the Vietnamese artist collective She Who Has No Master(s). She is the author of fourteen published works, including a cycle of novels about the city-state Ravicka and its inhabitants, *the Ravickians\u2014Event Factory* (2010), *The Ravickians* (2011), *Ana Patova Crosses a Bridge* (2013) and *Houses of Ravicka* (2017)\u2014as well as three collections of drawings: Prose Architectures (2017), One Long Black Sentence, a series of white ink drawings on black paper, indexed by Fred Moten (2020), and Plans for Sentences (2022). Recent essays and visual work have appeared in *POETRY Magazine, The Paris Review, Gulf Coast, Granta, Harper's, BOMB magazine, e-flux and n+1*. She has been awarded fellowships, artist grants, and residencies from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, the Lannan Foundation, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin), and is a 2021 Windham-Campbell Prize winner in fiction.
