Join IFSA representative\, Javier Rodriguez\; CGIS advisor\, Juliana Mesa\; and CGIS Peer Advisor\, Dion Stinson to learn more about the CGIS-approved program offerings through IFSA.\n\nCGIS Advanced Spanish in Buenos Aires is designed for students with advanced Spanish language proficiency who want to improve their language skills and cultural literacy as they immerse themselves in the culture of Argentina. You will have the opportunity to take several local university classes alongside Argentine students and earn 400-level Spanish credit. \n\nCGIS Psychology and Humanities in Buenos Aires offers a unique opportunity to take BCN/Psych elective/cognate courses taught in English while you get to explore a city known for its powerful cultural scene\, passion for tango\, and fondness for late nights. In addition\, you will get to experience cultural events and activities such as visiting local markets\, attending operas\, theater\, and symphony performances. DESCRIPTION:Join us for this virtual Info Session to learn more about the CGIS: Global Course Connections (GCC) in London\, UK - Literary Monsters study abroad program for Spring 2027! Unable to Join? Register for the Info Session and even if you can't make it\, you'll automatically be sent a recording. \n\nGCC Program Model: ​​​​\nGlobal Course Connections (GCC) programs allow students to participate in a field-based extension of selected U-M courses. Students enroll for specific courses in the fall or winter semester and then travel for 3 weeks with classmates to field sites where they will put into practice what they have learned in their course. Instructor permission is required to register\, and courses are offered through individual academic departments.\n\nWhy choose a GCC program?: \n+​​​​​Unique UM faculty-led programs are a great way to maximize learning during a short-term study abroad experience.+\n+Preparation in the classroom before you go abroad makes it easy to hit the ground running with good cultural context.+\n+GCC programs allow for close-knit relationships between students and faculty.  You get to know your team well throughout the semester leading up to the field component.+\n\nGCC London- Literary Monsters Overview: \nMoving among the people and streets of London and studying the political and cultural power historically centered there\, students will deepen their understanding of the cultural and geographic origins and histories of British literary monsters such as Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Robert Louis Stevenson’s Mr. Hyde. The layered geography of the city itself\, its neighborhoods and institutions and cemeteries\, will become our classroom as well as an additional kind of course text\, as we unpack the anxieties about foreignness\, status\, and marginalization that tales of monstrosity have documented and critiqued. Building on concepts studied throughout the Winter semester\, students will have rich new opportunities to think about what monstrosity means in this particular material setting and historical moment\, visit London's past imaginatively and in some sense quite literally\, and continue to discover what kind of monster stories they themselves have to tell.

We will call Lisbon home for 4 weeks\, investigating its rich history and culture that has influences from ancient Phoenicians\, Celts\, Romans\, and Moors. We'll focus on two of the most influential travel factors: food and literature\, with an eco-tourism scope.
