Join us this Earth Month on April 8 to learn from sustainability staff members who help our campus protect resilient grounds\, divert waste\, and reduce carbon emissions. These experts will provide a background on our newly updated campus sustainability goals and then open the floor for Q&A. We’ll wrap up the session with opportunities for students\, staff\, and faculty to get involved in these goals\, so that anyone can live\, work\, and learn sustainably on campus.\n\nThis event is free and open to any U-M community member\, but registration is strongly encouraged. DESCRIPTION:Learn about coral reefs and how these unique ecosystems have a crucial role in supporting our planet. U-M researcher Dr. Bardwell will lead a tour of his coral reef tanks and share how sustainability and coral reefs are intertwined. Participants will have the opportunity to get a close-up look at coral reefs and discover the intricate lives of the creatures who live here.\n\nWe will be meeting at the BSB West Atrium before traveling to Dr. Bardwell’s office together. Swipe access is required to access the coral reefs\, so please arrive on time to ensure you can join us for the tour.\n\nThe event is free and open to any U-M community member\, but registration is required. DESCRIPTION:You’re at a nightclub to see campy queen supreme Portia Lynn perform when\, suddenly\, news spreads of a flash flood. You’re safe\, but you don’t know how long you’ll be trapped at the disco. You and your fellow clubgoers band together to figure out how to survive using only the resources available at the club. Part escape room and part immersive theater\, you will engage in a series of campy\, art-forward challenges to build resilience and relationships for an uncertain climate future.\n\nEach seating has 30-40 people\, who will work in small teams. Written / directed / produced by the Sustainability Cultural Organizers and featuring refreshments and a performance by Portia Lynn.\n\nSponsored by Student Life Sustainability and Planet Blue Ambassador\, with support from the Arts Initiative and MDining.

SUMMARY:Well-being:Climate Café: Building Community Resilience and Support
DESCRIPTION:Connect with fellow U-M community members in a safe space to pause\, connect\, and talk about their experiences regarding the environment and climate change\, a.k.a. Climate Café. In this small group\, we encourage participants to share their stories and discover connections between our experiences. During this event\, participants will bridge gaps between climate emotions and sustainability action in our lives\, and learn how to care for ourselves and others. Light refreshments will be provided.\n\nWe wish to provide uninterrupted discussion time\, and make sure that everyone has a chance to speak and be heard. Due to the nature of this activity\, participants should arrive at the start time promptly. \n\nThe event is free and open to any U-M community member\, but registration is required. The Climate Café structure utilized is inspired by Dr. Michaela Zint’s EAS581 course and the Climate Psychology Alliance-North America (CPA-NA) café framework. DESCRIPTION:The Planet Blue Ambassador Program is inviting U-M community members to craft pipe cleaner flowers while learning more about native wildflowers and the importance of pollinators on campus. Organizations including the Office of Campus Sustainability\, LSA Sustainability\, Nature Rx\, and the Seed Library will be tabling in the LSA Atrium\, allowing students to engage within initiatives that U-M is implementing to support native plants and pollinators. The Lab Reuse Program will also be providing gently-used lab flasks that participants can use to hold flowers.
