DESCRIPTION:Are you curious about what kind of jobs and opportunities are available to you after graduation equipped with and related to data analytics skills from QMSS courses & our minor? Join us for a virtual QMSS Alumni Panel event to learn more!!\n\nOur panelists are recent QMSS minor graduates from a wide range of undergraduate majors and representing early career opportunities in various sectors. Our confirmed panelists currently represent:\n\n- Ford - Analytics Scientist (BCN & Data Science major)\n- JPMorgan Chase - Senior Client Associate (Econ major)\n- United Airlines - Financial Analyst (Econ major)\n- Apple - Software Engineer (Computer Science major)\n- Emory Law School - JD Candidate (plus gap year experiences in a data-related field!) (International Studies + Middle Ease & North African Studies major)\n- HighScope Educational Research Foundation - Research Coordinator (Political Science major)\n\nDuring the event\, one of our QMSS Peer Mentors will moderate questions for the panelists tailored towards what their application\, recruitment\, and hiring process was like\, what their day-to-day tasks are in their new-ish jobs\, what skills and tools they are using or building on from U-M and QMSS coursework\, what they've learned about their respective industries\, and where they hope their career takes them into the future. Afterwards\, we will have breakout room opportunities to more personally connect with individual panelists and ask them the nitty gritty questions that have been on your mind.\n\nHopefully\, you will learn more about various data-related career paths and opportunities available to you as a QMSS graduate and get answers to the questions you've been dying to ask in a low-risk setting! This is a great event for students in any year and at any stage in the job hunting process.\n\nOpen to all students!

DESCRIPTION:QMSS Community Hours are open to all students as a place to build community\, work\, study\, and get help & support from QMSS Peer Mentors and GSIs.\n\nQMSS Community Hours are designed to be a casual\, supportive\, weekly community-building and open study hours event for students in the QMSS Community (i.e.\, students previously or currently enrolled in any QMSS courses\, declared QMSS minors\, and student friends of the QMSS program). QMSS Community Hours are a supplement to traditional office hours during which students can come to chat with QMSS Peer Mentors\, make friends in the QMSS program\, and work independently or in groups on problem sets\, projects\, and/or exam studying.\n\nDuring Community Hours\, 1-2 GSIs from each QMSS 201 and QMSS 301 course will be present for at least 1 hour for potential student questions\, and there will be plenty of open space to work on your own or with friends without a GSI if that's what you prefer. QMSS Peer Mentors will always be present for the entire event to chat about navigating the QMSS minor\, finding\, applying for\, and getting offers for summer internships that utilize QMSS skills\, life as a student at the University of Michigan\, or anything else they've been thinking about lately and seeking additional support or resources for!\n\nOpen to all students!
