SUMMARY:Presentation:The Seduction\, Refusal\, and Retention of Universality in Collections Care
DESCRIPTION:Universality as an intellectual and ethical imperative has substantially shaped museum work\, including the management and care of collections. Critiques of the universal—including universal museums—contribute to current and necessary conversations encouraging the decolonization of cultural institutions. At the same time\, the ethical impetus of universal design offers a new set of values with which to imagine the universal in museums. In this talk\, I consider moves from universalism to relativism\, and from singularity to plurality. In seeking to understand why universalism\, its refusal\, and its retention within museum spaces matters\, I propose that museums’ evolving interpretations of universality directly shape how they care—for their collections\, their publics\, and their environments.\n\nPresentation by Cara Krmpotich\, University of Toronto

Significant challenges in every context constantly emerge\, and the wisdom needed to thrive in this dynamic environment is essential for our growth and development. \n\nThis workshop explores the resiliency theory framework\, focusing on practical insights\, knowledge\, and next steps to build resilient habits as individuals\, teams\, and leaders. This workshop uses interactive online activities\, small and large group discussions\, and personal reflections to help participants understand individual\, team\, and leadership resiliency\, and begin building resilient mindsets at each level. \n\nThe BLI\, M-LEAD\, Army ROTC\, Air Force ROTC and Navy ROTC are excited to invite our students and emerging undergraduate leaders to join us on March 16th for this interactive workshop on resiliency.\n\nPRESENTER\nJustin Stoddard\, PhD\, serves as an Assistant Professor and Chief of Character and Leadership Innovation at the U.S. Air Force Academy Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD)\, where he is responsible for leading character and leadership development innovation efforts for the USAFA Team.
